Caverns & Caves

The Forbidden Caverns is an underground cave and river attraction in the eastern part of the Great Smokies. It is open to the public and features stunning underground caverns with colorful lights, as well as a cave river that flows under English Mountain.

Great tour and experience! Fun tourist spot to check out and not too far from Pigeon Forge. The road is a bit tight and windy, we had a camper because we were leaving town so that was a bit challenging. The tour guide was very kind and educational and cavern's a unique experience. I couldn't believe how far down we traveled, the average tour takes about an hour to complete. You will walk the full thing, there are a few low spots and tight areas which the guide points out and the path is clear and easy to navigate. Our pictures turned out great when we were down there! I recommend wearing a sweatshirt/jacket and tennis/closed toe shoes. Price was $20pp. I didn't think it was bad, and it helps to support the caverns and small town business.

My first time going to a cave and this did not disappoint! I was afraid I would be very cold inside, but was surprised I was comfortable in leggings, a tank top, long sleeve top and North Face hoodie. It can be a little steep and slippery in spots, but the views are worth it! You have to go up 9 steps and down 50. No strollers are allowed. It was beautiful. We had a young man as a guide, he did an ok job, giving us time to meander. There was maybe 12-15 in our group and they have a group start every ten minutes or so. We could hear the other group laughing a few times at jokes their guide had told.We went at 3 on a Friday of a Holiday weekend and had no wait. My husband is 6'5" and he only had to turn his head sideways and bend at the knees a little bit during the walk. You do not have any tight squeezes either (He weighs around 300.)

The cavern is beautiful. A fun stop and would be refreshing stop on a hot day.We arrived as soon as they opened and were on our tour within 15 mins. It was a group of maybe 20 people. The cavern is about 58 degrees. My group felt comfortable all wearing shorts and t shirts but the people in leggings and sweatshirts looked cozy and comfortable as well.Random side note if you care: it felt like smells were amplified in the cavern so have good hygiene or others will smell it.

Kiara J — Google review

Really enjoyed our tour through Forbidden Caverns. Our guide was very informative, and we saw some great formations and an underground river. We also saw a cute little salamander.

Teresa P — Google review

Fun tour. Don't be tall. This was my first time in a cavern and our tour guide was amazing. Very cheerful and funny. 👍🏻

Samuel H — Google review

Beautiful cavern with a guided tour and a moderate walk. Native American history and moonshine history were explained by the guide. Pieces of scrap metal and a partial moonshine still are present today. 11 miles of cavern are said to be mapped out but you only get to explore maybe a half mile of it. Guided tour took less than an hour for 25$, beautiful and worth it just wish we could’ve seen more. An underground stream runs through the cavern and can be seen at several spots along the path and can be heard through most of the tour.

Colton L — Google review

What a cool place to visit. If u like history and don't mind a little dirt u will love the tour. Our tour guide was very friendly and on point with the information about the cave. She had only been there for 6 weeks and I couldn't even tell

Ashley H — Google review

This was a real treat. It's absolutely awesome to see all of the rock formations, the underground river and the lighting is great. Our Tour guide Laila was very nice and informative. There are steps. The ground is sometimes slippery. There are hand rails to help at many spots.I was with a person who had double hip replacements in their late 70's and they made it fine with some help along the way.Definitely recommended when you're in the area. The entrance fee is reasonable and everyone had a great time.

My husband and I had a great experience here! This was a bit of a last-minute activity for us, and I am so glad we opted to do this! There is a free parking lot across from the building, and the restrooms (by the way, are very clean!) are located in this parking lot as well. Our tour itself was awesome. Our guide, Diana, was great. We were in the front of the line so we could hear everything well. I’m not sure if those in the back of the line could hear as well, but it seemed to me like she was projecting her voice well. We toured the cavern as a group with one guide. We learned a lot of interesting facts about caverns in general, as well as facts about these specific caverns. Our tour definitely lasted the guaranteed time, if not longer. As I mentioned, this was a last minute activity for us, so we did not come prepared. I had sandals on and we did not bring jackets. There is a lot of moisture in the cavern and it is 58 degrees, so I recommend a jacket and gym shoes. Some places have puddles and it can be kind of slippery, but I was totally fine in my sandals (I was being extra careful, however).Passageways can be narrow and low. My husband is a tall guy and was crouching for a large majority of the tour, but he didn’t mind. On the tour, there are 9 steps you have to go up, 50 you have to go down (you do not have to climb back up these), inclines, and declines. We didn’t have any issues. The steepest incline was going back up into the gift shop. The gift shop had some cool items and were priced fairly.Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend coming here! It is worth the price and time.

This place was absolutely amazing! Well worth the money! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient with everyone’s questions. Would recommend a sweater!!

Danielle G — Google review

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Forbidden Caverns! We all really enjoyed seeing this active cavern. What a unique experience! The caverns temperature is 58°, if you get cold easy, I recommend bringing a jacket or sweater. The tour guide did an amazing job going over the history and science of all that encompasses the cavern. It was really interesting to learn about it. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something unique and fun to do with the entire family! We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Nicole R — Google review

I have been coming to this area for decades and only just now learned about this magnificent attraction. The cave is beautiful, our tour guide Halley was super sweet, and the price was reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Chris K — Google review

A neat little excursion! The tour isn’t long. If anything, I would have liked to linger at the various stops for longer. But it was a neat experience, good price, and I would like to go back to take my children next time.

Audrey W — Google review

We have visited many times and every time my family thoroughly enjoys it. The staff is really terrific and it is great to visit during the summer to have an opportunity to do an activity out of the heat. It's alot cooler in the caves so we tend to linger. It is a family friendly activity that even small children enjoy. It's a very pretty place and a nice experience.

C M — Google review

The Forbidden Cavern is in the Smoky mountains area. It is an amazingly beautiful limestone cavern with an underground river there, along with lovely natural sculptures. The person who guided us in the tour was also very good. The cost was $25 per person. Also it's pretty close to Sevierville so it didn't take too long to get there, if you're living in Sevierville when visiting the Smoky mountains.

Bina S — Google review

Super cool place to visit. Definitely worth the trip! Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out lots of unique formations.

C B — Google review

The cavern is definitely cool, literally and figuratively. If you get cold easily then bring a jacket. The tour guide knew her stuff and was very informative. Great for kids and adults. The tour lasts around 50 minutes or so. Worth the money.

Blake W — Google review

Excellent tour guide, she was very funny and provided a great experience. Our crew was able to safely navigate through the cavern and view the amazing features of this cavern. Highly recommend.

Miguel R — Google review

This was a cool experience and our guide was very knowledgeable. There are some tricky spots, stairs, and moisture throughout, so I recommend sneakers and a light waterproof jacket when visiting. The tour lasts about an hour. I wouldn't recommend for children younger than 6 unless they're especially interested in caves. Our daughter is 8, and she had no problem negotiating the cave, but smaller children had to be carried in places. Tours are groups of about 20. There is a free parking lot.

Natalie T — Google review

Forbidden Caverns was a fun place to go. We enjoyed seeing the different formations in the cavern. Its a fairly easy walk tnrough the cave. Be sure to wear a jacket, it is cool in the cavern.

Specialty Museums

Located in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, the Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum is a must-visit destination for motorcycle enthusiasts and history buffs. This 38,000-sq.-ft. museum houses over 300 rare motorcycles along with related exhibits, photos, and memorabilia. The museum gained fame through TV shows like American Pickers on the History Channel. Visitors can explore a unique collection of motorcycles dating from the early days to present times, including one-of-a-kind pieces that come with fascinating stories.

We visited the museum for Father's Day. I was very impressed with both the quality and quantity of motorcycles on display. They started one of the car's on display and two of the motorcycles on display while we were there. It seems almost everything on display is in running order! And they will start anything on display if you want to see and hear it run. We had a great time and I hope to visit again. Despite spending a couple of hours, I think I missed some of the displays. There is so much to see that it is difficult not to get distracted and miss something. All in all, a great museum if you like motorcycles.

M W — Google review

Such a cool museum! The staff is fantastic and super helpful. They had answers for my entire multitude of questions. They frequently start up random bikes to show museum goers how they work and it’s also super neat to see these 90-100yo bikes fire up right away! Props to the team there to keeping Dale’s memory and legacy alive! I’ll definitely be back!We popped in on a Saturday as part of our yearly road trip from Northern NJ, so this is not right around the corner but so worth the journey!🏍️💨🍃

This place is freaking awesome. Got the skinny on the worlds rarest motorcycle. Great story and great museum so many Harleys and different peoples custom uses of Harley Davidson engines. I will visit every time I’m in the area. We were warmly received and the history that has been preserved is irreplaceable. Great fun.

Chip — Google review

What a fabulous experience. One of the largest collection's of vintage motorcycles on the east coast. Hundreds to see and appreciate. Many rare and unique. There was staff available to answer questions, and there is a complete gift store. Bikers. Non-bikers, young and old, appreciate Dale's collection. We were so happy we stopped by. Plan on a couple of hours and look closely for gems are multiple and hidden in the many corners.

Alan — Google review

An incredible and unforgettable experience! This place is a true conservator of Americana! When going in here, you will not be disappointed, especially if you like classic cars and bikes!

Aaron T — Google review

This place was absolutely incredible. Even our non Harley Riders loved the tour. Every single employee is absolutely filled to the brim with knowledge and cool facts. near every single bike they have here starts up and runs as well. They had some excellent demonstrations

Devon W — Google review

Awesome, inexpensive experience! So many cool motorcycles to see and all but 2 were running. Loved hearing the stories behind some of these bikes. The employees were extremely helpful as well.

Gmgarcia7 — Google review

This place is absolutely amazing. So much history and love of the machines is apparent as you ride onto the property. I had been following Matt for quite some time and made the trip last June. I was blown away by the experience. I was lucky enough to be able to meet and chat with Matt. If you get the chance to say hi. Do! He is just as amazing in person as he is on video. Our invite into the restoration garage was above and beyond. It truly made my wedding weekend bike trip that much more memorable.

Jesica S — Google review

What an amazing place, such a wonderful museum. Staff where so friendly and informative. They had ppl explaining about the items and even started up a few of the bikes which was an added bonus for sure. Loved all the labeled items and small details. Highly recommend.

Ashton D — Google review

I had great expectations, and they were greatly exceeded. Tony's information and motorcycle knowledge was fascinating. Tony's wife ( sorry did get her name) was so helpful with the tour and shop. Both treated you like family. The unique and rare motorcycles on display were incredible. Even if you don't ride, it's worth touring. Dale left a timeless experience for generations to come

K C — Google review

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t interested in going but my husband wanted to even though he thought he has seen the majority of it all on YouTube. We were both wrong! We had a wonderful time strolling through the MANY awesome exhibits. Lots of great stories. Unique facts and articles. The staff was fantastic and made it even more fun. Many thanks!!!

Christina W — Google review

This place is amazing if you are into motorcycle history. This museum has been put together with so much love and care, and everything there still runs! A must see for any motorcycle enthusiast. They also raffle off a motorcycle every year and the proceeds go to help keep the place running. I already bout my tickets for this year!

Corey S — Google review

Finally able to make the trip and well worth it. Excellent collection of motorcycles but the way they are displayed is truly unique. A lot of period artifacts on display. Use of older unique furniture for some displays gave me more than just motorcycles to look at.

Frank H — Google review

This place was great. If you haven't been then go on up there I swear you will enjoy yourself. Amazing motorcycles, excellent people and we strike up conversations with everyone it was amazing to meet so many people from all over the world. Just 5 star employees and you will walk out of this place knowing something you didn't know I guarantee it. I'm not a motorcycle guy my wife is but I had just as much fun as she did. We were lucky to see the wall of death for the 22nd anniversary and man that was a cherry on top. A must go destination.

KOFFIN N — Google review

The staff was so nice and excited to discuss anything in the museum! We took our dad for father’s day and it was such a great experience would definitely come back! Super welcoming to any demographic!

Amelia E — Google review

Museum of antique motorcycles, including lots of motorcycles in excellent condition. It is very interesting and impressive to walk around the museum and be impressed by the variety of models. Very beautiful, diverse and interesting. I could spend hours there. Highly recommended.

Yossi G — Google review

Great Folks and great place if your into motorcycle or history in general. Very knowledgeable and very down to earth friendly folks running the place. Several occasions in the hour or so we were there, a care taker would see us admiring one of the bikes and stop and give us the history of said bike. Got a few ole hot rods in there quite a few ole race bikes, war bikes, and about anything else you could imagine powering with a motorcycle engine. Go at least a couple hours before they close because if you're really into motorcycles your going to be in there a while.

Jeremy H — Google review

Fantastic place to visit for a trip into motorcycle history. Primarily for Harley's, but as a metric bike owner, still found it very interesting. Allow a couple of hours to walk through the 2 level display. Lots of parking and around 10.00 admission is pretty reasonable.

Alan R — Google review

Great collection of vintage motorcycles. Was there on a Tuesday but they were closed. Rode down to Acworth, GA, but on the advice of friends backtracked the 175 miles when they were open. Well worth the trek.

Tim C — Google review

I’m in awe! I’m not as into old motorcycles and their history as other people are but that all changed after this experience! I walked in and was almost immediately called over to a desk so that I could pay and see the museum. It was cool and stuff but I still wasn’t that interested until I started talking with some employees about things. They started to tell me about the motorcycles and their experiences with them. It was crazy to see and learn about these pieces of history! I could spend days in this establishment and I’d still need more time to see everything! If you are ever in Maggie Valley, do not pass up this opportunity!

Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting with "Rafting In the Smokies" on the Pigeon River, just a short drive from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Maggie Valley. Choose between the upper tour for adventurous rapids or the lower tour for a more family-friendly experience. The guides are praised for their great communication and informative yet fun approach. After your exhilarating ride, take advantage of on-site showers to freshen up.

We did the “upper” rafting tour. Which consists of level 3 & 4 rapids. The upper is for those who like adventure/challenge/adrenaline dumps. The “lower” rafting tour is more suited for families with small children and/or elderly people who are not usually physically active. The lower consists of level 1 & 2 rapids, with more “flat” water. Our rafting guide was Heather and she was great! Just listen to your rafting guide and you will have a fun and safe time! And yes, you will have to row a paddle but they will teach you how.

Alia A — Google review

Rafting In The Smokies was an absolutely amazing adventure!!! Our raft guide, Barbie, was super amazing!! She not only provided awesome coaching and instruction (had us out there looking like an Ivy League rowing team...Harvard...Yale let's race) but she also jumped into action with no hesitation when my son fell in. Surely one experience he won't forget for years to come...in my opinion he had the BEST experience out of everyone. He was a little shaken up at first, but later (after lunch lmao) found the courage to jump in during the swimming parts of our rafting adventure!! The high tides (smooth ride), low tides (bumpy ride), the wildlife, and the scenery are all worth it!!! And if you are as lucky as my son, you'll fall in at some point and then get pampered like a prince for the remainder of the adventure. Definitely an adventure I'd go on again. Definitely worth it!!

Arthur J — Google review

Highly recommend this place! Everyone was so nice and helpful from the very beginning! We booked the 11:00 window but were told to book the later afternoon spots in the future order to ride the really good rapids! We loved our guide Heather and highly recommend you request her! She’s very knowledgeable about the river and funny! We also recommend getting the picture package, totally worth $40!!!

Jamie C — Google review

Our first experience as a family going rafting and the lower river family float was the perfect way to g et our feet wet! Our son LOVED it and was ready for more. We felt completely safe and our guide Allie was amazing!Highly recommend for anyone wanting an adventure without the fear!

Jessica D — Google review

As someone that can't swim and was terrified the entire time leading up to it, I truly appreciate our guide Elias! His jokes and puns and reassurance made the experience more fun. I felt safe with him as my guide!

Lots of fun!!! Camping was amazing!! Nice clean showers and kind owners. Fourth of July was incredible with fireworks. Definitely be back!! Very family oriented. Thank you for a fantastic time.

We've gone rafting in the Pigeon River for several years and this year was the best, it was also our first time with 'Rafting in the Smokies'. All the guides get along great, good communication and an informative fun time. Isabella was 10/10 and deserves a raise. 👏 Overall I feel like it was more efficiently ran and a smooth process for checking in/getting back with this company. Bring your water shoes, and a change of clothes. There are also showers here for afterwards!

Crystal C — Google review

Such a fun experience for my husband and I, and it was super affordable!! We were walk-ins and they were able to get us in within the hour. Our guide Mason was super funny and knowledgeable, and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. We highly recommend eating at the Pigeon River Smokehouse right across the street before or after your trip. The brisket sandwich was sooo good!!

Hallie F — Google review

Our family of 11 did the Lower Piegon River Float Trip. Sabrina was the guide for my raft and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. Besides being efficient and knowledgeable, she was very friendly and entertaining. The scenery was also beautiful.

Stacie K — Google review

Moss was a great guide. Had a 9 yr old with us and she had a blast. She said it was her favorite part of our week long trip. She got to just sit in the front since the paddle was too big and enjoyed all the dips and splashes. Loved how quick and efficient everything was to get into the water. Grabbed a bunch of souvenirs and quality photos from the experience.

H P — Google review

We did the ropes course, zip lining and the lower white water rafting with our group. Overall the guides were amazing and made it so much fun. I don’t think we would do the ropes course again but zip lining and white water rafting was a hit! It was our kids first time doing both (they are 12,10, and 7) and they absolutely loved it. We can’t wait to go back and try the upper river! Definitely recommend

Josh J — Google review

We had an amazing experience with Rafting in the Smokies! The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured everyone's safety while keeping the adventure fun. The rafting trip down the Pigeon River was thrilling, with just the right mix of rapids and calm stretches to enjoy the stunning scenery. The equipment was top-notch and well-maintained. This is a must-do activity for anyone visiting the Smoky Mountains, and we highly recommend Rafting in the Smokies for an unforgettable outdoor adventure!

We had an absolute blast! The office staff was so accommodating to my goof up and we needed to change the time from 11:15 to 12. The tour guide was phenomenal! Everyone we came into contact was so friendly and very funny with lots of funny jokes. Two of us were scared but they were so good with us. Highly recommended! They have showers and change rooms for after the rafting and they take pictures of you that you can purchase. We had so much fun!

Stephanie M — Google review

What a wonderful experience white water rafting!!! We were lucky enough to get B as our tour guide and she was amazing!!! The place is wonderful, we had a $12 discount and the equipment is very clean!! I can’t rave enough about how wonderful this place is! It’s our second time coming here and we will never go anywhere else! They are funny & show you a great time!!

Amanda O — Google review

We had a great trip! Our guide did great and had patience with one nine year old on our trip that didn’t help row. Rapids were great but not over the top. Recommend this trip for sure.

John B — Google review

Great price for such an exciting experience! Taylor you are small but mighty! I fell out and she got me back in the raft quickly and safely. It's beautiful and peaceful with just enough thrill to get the adrenaline pumping.

William, you are awesome! Thanks for being our guide. We had a wonderful time. Nice rapids too!It was PACKED on a Saturday morning.

Kevin F — Google review

Everyone there was super nice, friendly, and welcoming. The rope course had different levels for each person’s comfortability. The guides for the rope course made sure to explain the rules and that they could assist throughout the whole course. There is a chance for rope blisters, but the staff had first aid prepared. To avoid blisters, one could ask for some gloves. The guides for the zip lining were very experienced and could show off their tricks on the line. It was cool to see and a great experience!

Terri T — Google review

We had a great time!!! Our zip line crew was great! Lots of fun and good conversation. They communicated well with each other which kept us safe and excited! Lots of hospitality and an overall great experience.Rating was even better! Water was low but had no problem making our way down. Our guide Montana was amazing! She is very knowledgeable and skilled beyond expert. She explained everything we needed to know and things we should watch out for. She shared history about the area and her experiences on the water and it showed! It was a pleasure to have had such a great guide and we’re happy we chose Rafting in the Smokies. We will return next year!

Alex D — Google review

Went here with a group of 11 with kids and adults. We first went zip lining and it was great way to have my first zip lining experience. The zip lines are not super long so for first timers is helpful. The workers were informative and attentive. Sean and J1 were our guides and made sure everyone was safe, comfortable and having a good time. We brought lunch and were able to eat at the picnic tables but they do have food places around. Our second activity was the lower level rafting, due to ages of kids, and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done. You have to paddle on the lower levers rafting but get to relax more down the river. We were able to hop in the water at one point and float down the river with the mountains all around us. The Mountain Views were a sight to see. Our guide Jason was the best. He was friendly, informative and helped us be the first boat to make it to the pick up spot. He also was able to lift me out of the water and back into the boat which I was worried I wouldn’t make it back in. He was able to answer all our questions and made the trip enjoyable. The youngest kids got to sit in the front of the boat and enjoy the ride while the rest of us paddled. You need water shoes to participate and will be putting on a helmet and life vest. Great place to bring the family.

We did the 1/2 day white water rafting trip with Richard as our guide and it was amazing!! The scenery is stunning!! The trip was the perfect length for us beginners with rapids that were fun, but not too challenging. We also got to jump off a baby cliff into the water and swim through some slow rapids. So fun, I definitely recommend the trip! The booking, communication, and customer service were all top notch, smooth, and easy. But most of all, Richard made our trip! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the river and the area and's he knew the river like the back of his hand. With the directions and guidance he gave us, we knew we were safe with him. He could also be a stand up comedian, he was hilarious! We had the best trip, and hope to do it again next year!

We had to choose the kid calm white water rafting adventure because my daughter is 5. To charge us $250 for a family of 4 plus tip is ROBBERY for what we rafted ...seriously it was a lake and completely flat (see picture). There were 3 tiny/short/easy rapids for the entire 2 hour boat ride. They mentioned people tube down it to give you an idea of how gentle it is. Don't waste your money! We had a much better time tubing in Cherokee (and experienced much larger rapids in a tube)!

We had an awesome time!! We did the 1/2 day with lunch and it was a blast. We had the opportunity to rock jump and swim before lunch. The experience isn’t just about the rafting it’s also the guides. Glen was so knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. Pete..so many jokes!! I laughed so hard (bring a joke with you to share). And Amy, our bus driver, amazing skills.

We had a blast white water rafting with Kerrie. We loved her adventurous attitude. She really made sure we hit the rapids just right for the most bang and biggest splashes. Half of our group had never been rafting before and everyone felt safe. When we weren't paddling, we were joking, sharing stories, and laughing almost non-stop. We booked a half day tour and wished we had booked the full day. We also did the waterfall rappel with Mars and Colin. They were terrific guides and we loved the experience. The hike in and out is nice and the waterfall is beautiful. They drove us to the location and we all joked and shared stories throughout the day. We were a group of 8, ages 20 - 70. If we are back in this area, we will definitely adventure with FBA again.

We did the mountain biking tour this morning and loved it! Tyler was an awesome guide and not only shared some fun stories with us, but made sure we were comfortable and safe. He was patient as I figured out how to make right turns (Indy blood just wasn’t letting it happen) and picked up on when we were really ready to fly! Thanks for a great trip, Tyler!

Marty was by far the BEST guide for our white water rafting trip. We highly recommended requesting her if you book a trip. Her commands are simple and effective. And compared to what we heard coming from the other rafts, she was by far the most experienced. All of us made it in one piece and we had a great time! Thanks again!

Never went white water rafting before but decided to go with family. It went very nice. Our guide was name Ellie and she was amazing! She was very humorous, informative, patient and guided us all the way, safety. Very fun adventure went on the half day tour (3-4hrs). The course was great for beginner thrill-seekers or anyone interested in trying something new. It was affordable and fun. I would recommend it to people of all ages. Initially myself & 3 friends were booked for a Zipline excursion, but a last minute conversation with our main guide Tyler ended with us switching to an E-Bike ride through a trail that passes through NC & TN...and what a seamless and easy transition this change was!Tyler and Tom our guides for this trip took the time to make sure everyone was acutely aware of how to use these bikes .. considering I myself hadn't ridden a bike in over a decade... definitely was some things to pick back up.They were very through with assisting anyone who needed it, but let us kind of explore are ride at our own pace. They pointed some of Indigenous paintings on a rock cliff, and a couple good scenic views along the way.Overall, this was one of the highlights of our trip, and I know once we got back to cell service a number of people were googling the prices of E-Bikes for back home. I would highly recommend any outdoor excursion this Outfitter offers! And if the chance to return to Asheville presents itself we'll certainly be booking a return visit! This review is based on a trip that took place October of 2023 just for transparency...I'm really bad at posting here.

Had an awesome time white watering rafting for the first time. The guides are great and they make the whole experience (even the bus ride) enjoyable from beginning to end. The views from the water are simply breathtaking. Pricey but worth every penny.

This place is so much fun, The staff was amazing and very helpful with all of our booking needs. The bus ride to the river to get on the rafts was the best safety talk i ever had on top of all the absolutely hilarious dad jokes told by Richard, he really could have a second career as a comedian. Once we got to the boat launch Richard gave us a safety brief then told us which guide we were going to be with for this trip. We were in J’s group, between the awesome history and jokes, we had a great time! Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back. We felt safe and like dare devils at the same time, I personally recommend jumping off the rock it was very fun, and when they tell you you can get out and swim i recommend that too. if you don’t like getting splashed a lot then don’t go in the front you will definitely get splashed. anywhere in the boat you will get splashed but especially in the front. Thanks to all the great staff! can’t wait to come back sometime

This was such a fun family experience! Tried to read a lot of reviews to figure out which company to go with and I think I picked well! Also seems to be a shorter bus ride to the river than others that look closer to Asheville. (All of them have you load onto a bus with the rafts.) Jonah was our guide and he was awesome. Super fun— kids were sad when it ended—-ready to do it again!

Went for a calm water tour and it was a great relaxing way to spend the afternoon. They provided splash gear which is essentially high end rain gear and way exceeded expectations. Probably the best gear I've ever been provided rafting. For once I would say weather would not shy me away from running with this crew. Rain or shine you're going to have a great time. It was only 50 deg today and we had smaller children and they even stayed warm. If you forget something they have a great store with everything from clothes to water shoes, to water socks and it's all quality items that aren't throw away when you're done. Very impressed!

Where to begin. I can’t recommend French Broad Adventures enough for whitewater rafting. This was my first time going and I went with a group of 5 that also had never been rafting before. I was pretty nervous beforehand, but Jim, our guide was amazing. If you have the chance to have him as your guide, don’t hesitate. Had a lot of good stories during our 5 mile trip and showed us landmarks as we went down the river. The best part, he kept us all in the raft so no one fell in! 😂. It was a really fun trip and would recommend to anyone so just go whitewater rafting, but stick to with French Broad!

Steven T — Google review

We had an amazing rafting trip with French broad adventures. Our guide, Eddy, was the best. He kept us on our toes and helped us have the best adventure. We also enjoyed listening to the comedic stylings of Richard on the bus ride to the river and back.

First time whitewater rafting but the guides put all our fears at ease. Well organized and well managed. Our guide, Shane, was a hoot and we thoroughly enjoyed the conversations along the way. Everyone we encountered seems to enjoy their "job" and it shows in how they interact with each other and with us. Thank you for a great experience!

T C — Google review

This was the perfect trip for the people in my group who were new to white water rafting, able to experience rapids without getting scared or falling out!Everything was thoroughly discussed ensuring our safety, alleviating any fears or concerns, the guide even made the bus ride down and back enjoyable with his sense of humor!Would be great for families with kids as wellDefinitely recommend French Broad Adventures for your next white water rafting trip! :)

My family did the zip line & rafting. we had the best adventures you could imagine! Zipping with Mars & AJ could not have been better. They are so knowledgeable and personable, always ensuring your experience is great. Our rafting trip was also terrific! When our zipping went a bit long, the FBA team held the raft trip a bit, so we could grab a quick bite to eat. The rafting team was awesome. Shawn kept us entertained on the bus & Ally led our rafting "team". Ally displayed her expertise throughout the trip, and everyone had a blast. I would highly recommend FBA to anyone looking for a fantastic adventure. Their entire team, everyone we encountered working there, went above and beyond to ensure our experience was amazing and memorable.

Sarah was a great guide. She is relatively new, so I expect she has some improvement forthcoming. We had her all to ourselves, just the two of us, so we didn’t have a lot of paddles in the water. She’s a tiny young lady and very soft spoken. With more confidence, which only comes with time and more projection in her voice when giving commands she will surely be even better. The whole team was great. We will return next year and hope to see Sarah again.

YachtsOneSRQ — Google review

Had an amazing half trip down the French Broad River with my team! Pete was the most pleasant host for everyone and knows how to get a laugh. He truly loves what he does and is just as entertaining as the trip down the river! Everyone that we came in contact with was friendly and was happy to help us! We will definitely be back to try out the zip lines, e bikes and repelling! Thank you for an awesome adventure.

Tall peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a mile-high swinging bridge, museum & picnic areas.

Great adventure to Grandfather Mountain State Park. This park has a suspension bridge between two peaks on the top of the mountain which is a 1 mile up. The views were breathtaking!Grandfather Mountain also has an animal habitat, with some great informative presentations by the animal handlers.

John L — Google review

Awesome place to spend the day. Swinging bridge is fun and the trail to the other summit from the parking lot is no joke. Plenty to do and lots of trails for a full day. The zoo is supposed to be good too but that will have to be for next time.

Thomas R — Google review

Amazing place to visit and enjoy nature at its finest! Mile high swinging bridge, animal habitat, trails to hike and beautiful mountain foliage and views to enjoy.

Denise S — Google review

This is a bucket list place! The mile high bridge is so awesome. The views aew amazing. It was foggy the day I was there. We were the only people there on a Monday morning around 9am. That was a big plus too!

Jody R — Google review

Beautiful sights, regardless of which trail you take, some are advanced while others are somewhat relaxed and not as strenuous or demanding. They have a cute gift shop to get souvenirs, they also have a bridge where you can get some incredible views as well.

Dark P — Google review

Visiting the NC mountains (near Banner Elk) should include a trip to Grandfather Mountain to walk across the mile high swinging bridge. Breathtaking views of the mountains along with many hiking trails (some trails warn you to be experienced hikers). There are several animal habitats to view, but on this day they were sleeping. Rangers do give informative talks scheduled throughout the day. There is a cafe and restrooms along with several exhibits to view. Be sure to look through the view master devices across from the cafe to see awesome 3D photos of the mountain.I recommend you arrive early to avoid the crowds. Buying tickets on line is recommended because they can turn you away if they are at capacity. Adult tickets range from $22 to $28 and kids start at $10. To get the AAA discount you have to buy on line. Prices vary during peak season.

Cathie B — Google review

Worth the entrance fee! Military discount if you get tickets before entrance. The views were amazing. We enjoyed the exhibits and small zoo. There is an elevator to the upper layer, in the gift shop, to the swinging bridge. The weather was calm when we were there

Liz W — Google review

Went couple of days after Christmas 2023 and it was awesome! They have a Zoo and Bridge, trails so much to do and we spent hours there.

Janet — Google review

Winding road to get to the top followed by beautiful views. The suspension bridge was safe. There are no guardrails if you climb onto the rocks for a better view, so be careful with young children and those with physical limitations such as disabilities or the elderly. Rock climbing experience not necessary to get to the top of the rock overlooks for the beautiful views. There is a nice gift shop and a mini zoo area

Lorin P — Google review

Oh, the views!!Amazing views from what feels like the top of the world. Beautiful nature center and museum. Lots of trails to hike. Beautiful little spots to stop and picnic all the way up the mountain. Plan on spending the whole day ( there is so much to do and see) but, get there here early the bridge and summit get very busy and crowded, not a great way to enjoy it.

SeanHiggins T — Google review

It was so much fun going up there. There was so much to see so much to do. I had the pleasure of going with the Girl Scout. Beautiful place to make memories.

Ana A — Google review

First time visiting Grandfather Mountain. The sights were breathtaking. You’re given a CD to listen to as your driving, an informative tour. Once you reach the building at the top, there’s 3 floors. A gift shop on the first, a museum on the second, and on the third is a door leading out to the skybridge. If you walk out on the rocks to the ledge, it’s at your own risks so do be careful.

Kayla H — Google review

Great animal exhibit and amazing views at the top. Make sure you wear good shoes and keep an eye out for the dear.

Angela A — Google review

Go here! Great views, nice hikes, fantastic day for a family outing, date, friends, or even on your own. It's even worth a side-trip, the drive is incredible. The bridge is awesome to see and walk across. The 0.4 mile hike up to it is slightly challenging, but is totally doable as long as you can do stairs. There is a place for bathrooms and water at the top, which is great. Lots of animals to look at in nice enclosures. A fun surprise is that Forrest Gump ran one of the curves there too!

Grace P — Google review

If you are near this place is amazing. Make sure you have good brakes. Drive to the top and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

John H — Google review

So many things to explore and enjoy! This place is one of the must visit places in high country. Mile High Swing bridge provides a fantastic view of the Appalachian Mountains. Ice cream from Mildred’s Grill provides a great break time after hiking. Over the weekend, it gets easily crowded so plan ahead and visit early. Hiking provides a lot of scenic views and beautiful nature, so pack your hiking shoes and water.

Y B — Google review

This place is beautiful. The hike is about 5 hours long round trip. And it’s more difficult than most of the hike. But it’s definitely worth a trip

Tina L — Google review

I'm sure I was here as a kid but I don't remember it, so it was time to go just to make sure.Fantastic views at every turn. The weather can change while you're there so if it's rainy or foggy at the top, try a trail off-peak and then try the bridge again after a while. The Grandmother View is a great one, and if you dare to ascend the ladder and the rope you'll see some spectacular views of the hanging bridge and the Lynn Cove viaduct from one location.Definitely dress in layers; particularly when the seasons start to change.Parking was easy for us on a Monday at 11:00 am. I'm sure it's busier mid-season.

David H — Google review

Visited during a long weekend and hence the place was quite crowded. However, the staff were really helpful. The place is really beautiful. There are trails if you want to walk or oi can drive until the hanging bridge. The animal habitats are an added benefits. Spotting the birds native to the place is also another thing you could do. In short, it’s a wonderful place to visit. The ticket was $30 per person and I would say it was worth it.

It was a great evening at the grandfather trail to Galloway peak, I got to say that the trail was very enjoyable to hike, the views were spectacular and amazing, the trail to macrae peak was challenging but not hard for me and my bro the trail to Calloway it's a little far but worth it.It has been very nice parking since we came in on a Friday and it was not too crowded It was a very nice hike and I really recommend it, have a nice hike and take care out there guys.

The Mill Mountain Star is a prominent and iconic landmark overlooking the city of Roanoke, Virginia. This neon-lit star stands at an impressive 100 feet and is a regional cultural symbol that attracts many visitors to the area. Perched on top of Mill Mountain, this location offers magnificent views of the city and surrounding natural landscape. It provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, walking or simply taking in the beautiful scenery.

The view here is incredible! It is a great place to get a quick bit of exercise (especially if you’re like me, and enjoy shorter hikes)! Thankfully the area is kept clean of trash and green with vibrant, beautiful nature aspects! I highly recommend a trip here if you’re visiting the area or simply have never been before. Whether it’s simply for the walk, photogenic properties, or to enjoy the surroundings this is a must-see location for residents and visitors alike!

The star at the Bill Mountain Star stands tall for great pictures and the view from the top is amazing. There are easy hiking trails along with visitor centre, play area and zoo that can enjoy with entrance fee. Little crowded on weekends to find parking but there are lots of car coming and going so you might get parking spot if you wait a little. They have restrooms on both visitor centre and near the big star as well. We enjoyed our tiny hike with the little one.

Panoramic views of the Roanoke Valley from several overlooks. Also a zoo, small park and Discovery Center - all in the shadow of the world's largest man-made star. Only the zoo has an admission fee.

I've visited Roanoke for the first time last year and came again this year. We always visit the star because it has an amazing view of the town, definitely worth the drive up. Beware of the locals jogging up and down the road to get up there, the street is very narrow and does not have a lot of space for pedestrians and cars.

Tiffany W — Google review

Beautiful, beautiful view of the city and just looking at all the mountains. Must visit if you're in Roanoke! Came to visit a friend, and she took me to see!! So grateful for the memorable opportunity she gave me as well as thinking of taking me! Thanks Olivia!!! :)

Wonderful views with easy access! The star is a magnificent spot that overlooks all of Roanoke and even highlights other peaks in the area. A road will bring you all the way up, and it is wheelchair accessible. The best part is that it's free!A playground and picnic area lies just below the star. A great place to bring younglings! There is a botanical garden, but that part isn't wheelchair accessible. It's a very pleasant walk, and it has a fish pond. It's not the biggest garden, but well labeled.

A marvelous view! A wonderful spot to go anytime of the day but I recommend going at night. I took my daughter and we had an absolutely amazing time! Very easy to get to. Not a far walk at all to the lookout. The lookout itself is outstanding! The star is truly a marvel. I highly recommend this for a family outing. I will be back here again and again!

This is a true Roanoke landmark overlooking the city. Well worth the drive up the mountain to check it out. The view is absolutely stunning. Can see all of Roanoke with the mountainside in the background. Come near dusk to take in the view and then see the star turn on. There is a platform to walk out on to take in the view and then check the star out. There is also a website where you can log on and see yourself. There are some walking trails around so you can go on a little gander. It's a must checkout.

Anthony C — Google review

Quiet and peaceful spot high atop Roanoke. Enjoyed seeing the massive star and the observation deck at its base. Clean restrooms and a few short walking paths wind around the park.

Yolanda W — Google review

The star is one of the best and oldest attractions in the area, drawing visitors who are locals as well as tourists/visitors to our city. You can't beat the view of the valley, and the overlooks are perfect for capturing those gorgeous views. The playground has picnic tables next to it for a perfect spot to enjoy lunch while the kids have their own little adventures climbing, sliding, and making their way through the tunnel. The star and overlooks are free, as well as parking, making it an excellent choice for a weekend afternoon family outing or picnic.

Krystal N — Google review

Our visit to Mill Mountain Star was truly memorable. The star itself, towering above Roanoke, is an iconic symbol of the city, and seeing it up close was an experience worth the trip. The drive up the mountain was scenic, offering glimpses of the lush surroundings, and once we reached the top, the views were simply breathtaking. The panoramic view of Roanoke and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, especially at sunset, was nothing short of spectacular. The star lit up as dusk fell, casting a warm glow over the entire area. It was fascinating to learn about its history as the world's largest freestanding illuminated man-made star. The observation area was well-maintained, with plenty of space to take in the views and snap some great photos. There’s also a nearby park, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic. While the main attraction is undoubtedly the star and the view, the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty made the visit even more special. If you're ever in Roanoke, I highly recommend a trip to Mill Mountain Star, especially during the evening hours when you can catch the sunset and see the star in all its illuminated glory.

Carlos P — Google review

It was amazing to drive up the mountain to the overlook to see the Roanoke Star up close. It had just turned on by the time we got the top. And the view of Roanoke from the overlook was beautiful.

This was a beautiful walk to see the whole city from a birds eye view. There are several trails. We suggest starting at the discovery center to collect a free map. This would be a great family place to explore trails too.

Sabrina E — Google review

Fantastic park up a mountain that culminated in a really cool landmark. The star is the largest man made star in the world, which is impressive since it was built in 1949. Good lookout areas and plenty of parking. The view over Roanoke was really spectacular.

Gregory S — Google review

Not a local but stopped by while passing through the area. The star is huge as expected but it's the view of the city that really gets you. Lol there is a restroom also located in the parking lot of the star. If you walk the trail next to the star, it leads you down to the discovery center and the flower gardens. Walking through the garden will lead you directly to the zoo. The garden was not yet in bloom and the zoo was closed for the day (5pm) but still a nice walk.

Lenny W — Google review

Easy but winding road through the park to the Star and overlook. Free. Informative signs. Facilities accessible including restroom. Kids and adults enjoyed local history and culture and unique experience.

Valerie F — Google review

Being that this is the largest man-made star, it’s a must see if you are in the area. Easy trail through the park, the star is located opposite to a beautiful observation desk. Also in the park are a kids playground, discovery center, wildflowers garden, zoo, a pavilion and probably more:)

Sights & Landmarks

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is a living museum consisting of more than twenty-five restored structures such as homes, businesses, and taverns. The park commemorates the end of the Civil War when General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General Ulysses S Grant at McLean House in Appomattox Court House. Visitors can explore several buildings containing original and period furniture from 1865.

The pull-offs are very well done. With the descriptions posted, you can imagine all the troops there. Probably best to start with the video In the visitor center. It's well done and only about 15 min long. The displays are great. There are some really well done exhibits that are very informative. We were amazed to find out there are no fees for this park. What a great way to spend a half day learning about history. The jail was a little creepy with the old shackles and hangman noose. Overall, a great park with some really neat exhibits.

Charles B — Google review

We went as a family on Memorial Day and it was great! In the court house there is a walk thru tour with videos that play. They also have a film that plays there every half hour. You're able to walk through many of the old houses/stores.In front of one of the homes they had an actor in historical attire. He spent nearly an hour retelling his point of view from the war. My kids asked him what year it was and he said 1865.All in all very family friendly, multiple people had dogs, and it was very well kept with a ton of history being preserved.

Matt L — Google review

The history here is amazing. We learned about the culmination of the American Civil War. Being able to tour the building where terms of surrender were written, learning about the mindset of how the war was ended in favor of building unity. The grounds and buildings are well maintained. The movie should be watched in the courthouse before going to the surrounding buildings. This is a big part of American History and if you are able to visit, I highly recommend it.

David S — Google review

Must see for those who like to put pieces of history together. In character presentation was really really good. It may not be comfortable for some to meet an actor in person who does not come out of character. Well maintained grounds/premises. Rangers were very informative and courteous.

Vishal P — Google review

A perfect park! NPS did a fantastic job of preserving this important historic site and documenting the context and storyline of the events at Appomattox. Particularly, Ranger Luke truly made our experience memorable. His greeting at the visitor center was friendly, and he enthusiastically answered all our questions at the McLean House. The town of Appomattox is well preserved, and the walk is so pleasant around all of the old buildings. There are numerous nature / history trails to select from if you’re interested in a longer stroll. Between the small museum, the town of Appomattox, and walking to a few battlefield sites (one could easily drive if preferred), I easily walked over 6 miles just taking in the history.

Julie W — Google review

What a great historical park. The history and the amount of information was awesome. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Really a great experience for all. Watch the video at the visitor center first before visiting the rest of the park. The video is well worth it.

Justin M — Google review

This a great National Park. It interprets the history of the area really well. My biggest complaint is that only some of the park is accessible. I understand that there are historic buildings which made it more of a challenge but I have been to other parks like Taft and they made everything fully accessible. I guess it also comes down to funding. That being said we happened upon a man taking the role of a slave and doing a talk. He was downright amazing. He made the entire trip worth trying to get around on my electric scooter. I was able to go up some of the paths but some were so bumpy and uneven I thought my scooter was going to fall over.I left there wanting to learn and see more.

Cat L — Google review

My husband who loves history wanted to go here. I am not a history buff my any means. Honestly, I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed this place. The staff was very friendly. The gentleman that took us on a tour was very entertaining. I really enjoyed it and if my husband wants to go again I would definitely be up for it.

Every American should try and go here and understand what happened here and how 2 men (Lee and Grant) changed the course of our history. This could have been radically different had Lee chosen guerrilla warfare over surrender or Grant had dismissed Lincoln's advice to "let them down easy" and humiliated the Confederate troops and imprisoned them. Very well done movie in visitor center as well as displays and the "Voices of Appomattox". Everyone there was super helpful and informative.

McK5 — Google review

We visited on a Monday morning in late May 2023 (Memorial Day weekend). There was plenty of parking with only 4 or 5 other cars in the lot with us. There is a large map at the parking lot which tells you to just walk straight up to the visitor center which is located in the old court house. It's a bit of a walk up hill on a gravelly path. You enter the visitor center on the bottom floor (follow the signs). There is a desk to your left where the park volunteers will help you with any questions you may have. The younger lady and older gentleman who greeted us seemed very eager to help. They informed us of the start time of the film in the upstairs theater as well as the program taking place outside at the next building over. We also grab our Junior Ranger booklets here at this desk.We went up and watched the 20 min video first which was very informative and the kids enjoyed it as well and it kept their attention. There are a series of exhibits right outside the theater and basically take up the rest of the space on the upper level. There was a number of neat items on display. Back downstairs there are also bathrooms. We left quickly to the special program outside which was basically a living history presentation by 2 younger gentleman. The one giving the talk did an AMAZING job. Really play the role well and knew all the facts. Kids all listened and paid attention. It was a bit long for my 8 year old with ADHD but still very well done.We proceeded then to the old slave house which is now the gift shop. There was plenty of merch divided into 2 rooms. I've included pictures. Then next door is the outdoor bathrooms. About diagonal to your right when you leave the store is the Meek's General Store. You basically go in and then it's a 8x8 foot glass room where you can look at the store displays. You can't walk through and really see everything. After leaving the store turn right and head down to the McLearn House where the meeting and terms of surrender between Grant and Lee took place. This was a nice walk through tour. There were 2 rangers at the front to answer any questions. There are also houses and exhibits in the buildings out back so make sure now to miss those either.Sadly we were on a schedule and didn't have much time to explore much further but the kids were able to complete the Junior Rangers booklets and earn their badges. Sadly the rangers didn't swear them in like usually but they were just handed over by the volunteers at the visitor desk. For those interested in the National Park Cancellation Stamps, they are located in the NPS store to the left of the register. I've included a photo of what the station looks like. They are not located in the visitor center itself. We would definitely visit again as we really didn't get to explore the entire town or do the self guided driving tour. We saw markers as we drove through the area but didn't get to drive and see the battle lines and the headquarters etc. I would plan to stay at least a couple hours around the grounds and maybe another 30-60 for the driving tour.

David L — Google review

Losts of history here. The park is very, very nice. All the Rangers were friendly and helpful. Easy walking to all the sites. We were here on a Friday morning and it was not crowded. I would give yourself 2-3 hours to tour the grounds.

Judy M — Google review

Very interesting to learn the history of the battles leading up to the surrender, how the meeting took place, and some of the key terms that were included. You can go through several of the buildings, and there is a junior ranger badge. There is also a full room of displays on some of the African Americans involved (both as slaves and soldiers).

Appomattox Court House is a must-see for any American history buff. This is such an important part of American History! They have a great museum and visitor center and the video does a great job of explaining the historical significance.Another well done for the National Parks!See the actual desk Lee surrendered to Grant from, the actual pens used, and many Civil War artifacts. So important to our country! Loved the visit and I highly recommend it.

Actor playing Mr. Tibbs did a wonderful job putting his time in the war into perspective! Went on a lovely fall day and it was a wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go back!

The American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse is a charming venue that offers classical performances in a re-creation of Shakespeare's indoor theater. The theater enforces strict COVID protocols, including vaccine and ID checks at the entrance and mandatory mask-wearing to protect the actors. Romeo and Juliet 2022 was an amazing production, featuring music, singing, phenomenal acting, stunning voices, and raw emotion that was breathtaking.

At the entrance they do check your vaccine status as well as your ID, and yes they do require you to wear a mask to protect the actors. I respect that, especially now during the pandemic. With that said…Romeo and Juliet 2022 was AMAZING! The cast played music and sang before the show started, and during the intermission. The acting was phenomenal, their voices were amazing, the raw emotion they use in their art was breathtaking. My family and I truly loved the show and the beauty of the theatre itself! We had driven 3+ hours to see the play, and it was worth the drive!

The cast of The Importance of Being Earnest is phenomenal! I have seen this play a couple of other times, but THIS was the performance that really showed me how wonderful it truly is! Every single player — whether large part or small — brought everything they had to their roles and the cast chemistry was off the charts! Everyone was laughing so hard. The playhouse is spartan with the props — they don’t really need them because the talent is so strong. Beautiful theatre. I have seen a few productions by ASC and this is definitely one of their best! Bravo!! What a gem to have here in Virginia.

The missus and I attended the opening night of Taming of the Shrew, and had a rollicking good time. Delivery was fast-paced and energetic. I can see why this style of entertainment would have been popular in 1592.Minus 1 for the seating. While we weren't standing for the performance, the thin cushions on the wood benches began to become quite uncomfortable after about 90 minutes. At least there were seat backs.All-in-all, it was very interesting for us to experience Shakespeare as it would have appeared in the Bard's period. We would love to return for another performance.

It was a wonderful experience for myself and my granddaughters. All of the actors were amazingly talented and hilarious. The Foley Artist was amazing in her own right. Highly recommend for any Dracula fan, or anyone looking for a great comedy. We will be back!

We have been to the Center several times over the past decade, but this 2023 season is exceptional. Fantastic acting, costumes, scenery. The play we saw was the Christmas Carol and our adult children agreed that it was a visit unlike any before. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I spent the weekend in Staunton, celebrating our anniversary. We love history and the arts so we thought it'd be a good choice, and seeing Julius Caesar performed at this theater was a wonderful addition to our weekend plans. The staff were great and the actors were amazing. They really stay true to the Shakespearean experience and it's something to behold! Everyone did a magnificent job. My only complaint is that we sat in the second row on the second level and there was absolutely no back support. It's just a bench, which can be uncomfortable after 2+ hours. It appeared that the other seats had at least partial backs. Just something to make note of if you're making seat selections. Other than that, terrific!

This is a gorgeous recently renovated theater in Staunton, Virginia. We went to see The Tempest by William Shakespeare on a weekday. The acting was excellent. Bonus points for labeling the gender-neutral bathroom and for the actors telling us their pronouns in the talk back about the show. This was my first time in Staunton and my first time at the theater. We will definitely come back!

I have not actually been to the playhouse but I want to warn everyone but their ridiculous cancellation policy. I double booked an event for Sept. so I have 4 tickets for the same play for 2 people. 100% my fault. The second set of tickets were purchased today at 11am. I called them immediately but they were not open. I waited until 1p when they were open and nobody answered. I called again at 1:45p and spoke with the box office and was informed that they can't give me a refund because I didn't cancel within 30 days from the event date....no budging. She canceled my two tickets, so that they could still sell them, and gave me two tickets to see any show the next year. Sorry, I have no plans on going to Virginia next year or even in the next 5 years. That's 150 dollars down the drain. I could see their side if it was a week or two but 45 minutes. Give me a break 0 out of 5 customer service.*********Ok, now that I have actually been to the theater I have decided to update my review. We saw The Importance of Being Ernst and it was, without a doubt, one of the best live shows that I have ever seen. The actors were phenomenal, each one brought their own flare to their particular character. What I really enjoyed, was that they really enjoyed acting in the play. It was an the highlight of our trip 5 out 5 stars!!!

What a fun place! The small cast puts on a few different plays during the season. I saw pride and prejudice and had a blast. Lots of laughs. They cast also plays some music before the show so get there a little earlier to see that. Would love to see more of their offerings.

Even as a 16 year old, I had a lot of fun. The play was great (The Importance Of Being Earnest - Oscar Wild), the actors were incredible, the intermissions were engaging and fun, and the environment was perfect. They even gave us free upgrades to on-stage seats, right with the actors! I would highly recommend.

Micah G — Google review

Shakespeare has never been so accessible and perfect! Love the bar.Wish the gift shop had more stuff to buy. Some of the performers could not project their voice and need to learn that.Loved it when they had the synopsis of the first half of the play printed out

The first time we attended a production at the Blackfriar's Playhouse was during the 2023 annual fall music festival in Staunton. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The theater itself is intimate and the actors were suburb. Based on this experience, we purchased tickets to attend the matinée production of Midsummers Night Dream 9 Jun 2024 - we also made reservations for dinner afterwards at a nearby restaurant. We drove 2.5 hours one-way to attend. Much to our dismay, when we approached the entrance to the playhouse, we were told the production had been canceled at the last minute due to an "emergency." They promptly refunded the ticket cost, but what about the 5 hours of driving time and nearly $40 in gasoline? The story in town was that too many actors canceled at the last minute and they did not have enough understudies to put on the production - we never could get a better explanation of the "emergency" from the theater management. Of course, we also canceled our dinner reservations and returned home that afternoon. Based on this experience, we will never purchase tickets again just to attend a Blackfriar production. We may consider buying tickets if we are going to be in Staunton for other reasons.

Love love love this place! You are transported back in time with the decor and set up but then the actors bring fresh content and present humor and I love seeing them play music and have fun together! Always entertaining and if you want to have an adventure can sit on stage sometimes to participate with the actors.

Now this was a great experience for me. We went to our first play there and it was excellent. Truly gifted actors, that put on an amazing performance. If you haven’t been to a play and not sure you want to, this will get you going. From the moment you walk in through the last applause, it’s a great experience.

Cliff D — Google review

The company has so much *fun* onstage, it's contagious! Performers are top-notch, and their interpretation of Shakespeare is modern and accessible. We love the musical numbers beforehand and at intermission (with song choices usually hilariously relevant to the play). Maybe I've only seen comedies thus far?

Kate A — Google review

love it love it love it!!! saw the preview of the TEMPEST and it was amazing!!!! definitely go see a show when you are in town. staunton va was such a pleasant surprise! amazing theater and cast. a must do

J D — Google review

Although the theater is amazing the company is leaves much in the air. Their performance of Cesar was a disgrace to live theater, on the other hand Pride & Prejudice was an amazing and delightful performance. Their company needs to either grow or prepare their understudies better. The worse disgraced was when I received an email around noon on Sunday to announce the cancellation for A Midsummer Night's Dream. Now I read that most of their audience comes from out of town. So imagine getting such an email on your way to Staunton after you have made hotel reservations. I was not happy about the cancellation, but I would of been furious if I had spent money in hotels for nothing. I do need to disclosed that I am from the West Coast where we have Oregon Shakespeare in Ashland, an attend performances at the London Globe often.

Anapilar M — Google review

This is our third trip to the ASC's home to see their fantastically talented cast perform. If ASC is doing it, I recommend it, whatever the play. The theatre can be cold, so if you are sensitive to that, dress appropriately. They do, however, have some crocheted wraps to borrow if you don't. They also provide some cushions if you need a little extra padding on your seat (which you may want). Still, these little inconveniences pale in comparison to the quality of the performance. Seriously, treat yourself to a show at the ASC!

Tia M — Google review

The Merry Wives of Windsor was a humorous production. The actors/actresses were each in character and enjoying what they were doing. This is one of my favorite performances after attending 10+ years when visiting Massanutten Resort this time of the year. S Gross, Pennsylvania .

Excellent, excellent, excellent. If you have the opportunity to visit, go. The players and cast are amazing. They pull you right into the performance. I was somewhat skeptical at first. But you will not be disappointed. We are looking forward to returning.

Located just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, in the Piedmont region, Monticello was originally a 5,000 acre plantation built by Thomas Jefferson. The estate is now open to the public and features tours of the mansion and slave quarters as well as a museum and cafe.

Didn't know it was going to cost around $50 for 2 adults just to walk around the grounds on our own and not get to see inside the house. But we still really enjoyed everything. It was amazing and well worth the money.

Taresa M — Google review

The value of the $42 guided tour depends on how interested you are in history. The extra $20 over a regular ticket is probably worth it because how often are you going to be in Charlottesville, but it probably should not be $20 extra just to enter the building. That said, it was a solid tour, and it is pretty cool to stand in the room where such an important person spent so much of their time. The grounds are bucolic, and the small exhibits accessible with any ticket level are worthwhile.

It had been years since I last visited Monticello as a child, so we decided to make a day trip to revisit this iconic estate. After all this time, it felt like a completely new experience, and it was even better than I remembered. The setting is stunning, and the entire property is meticulously maintained. It’s peaceful and serene, and on the day of our visit, the crowds were sparse. This allowed us to enjoy quiet moments of reflection without interruption, which added to the charm of the visit. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day, and we appreciated their warm demeanor. We brought our dogs along and found Monticello to be moderately dog-friendly. However, during our visit, we encountered a significant inconvenience when trying to return from the mansion to the parking lot. We were stopped by security and informed that we couldn’t walk back down the trail due to ongoing tree maintenance and were advised to take the shuttle instead. Unfortunately, the shuttle driver wouldn’t allow dogs on board, which led to some confusion. After some back-and-forth between very confused staff and a 30-minute wait, we were finally allowed to take the shuttle back to the parking lot. While this incident was frustrating, we chose not to let it dampen our overall experience, so we didn’t deduct any stars because of it.The one real disappointment was the Burial Area for Enslaved People. It’s located in the middle of a parking lot, with little attention or prominence given to it. Considering the significance of this site in American history, it would be more appropriate to have a more fitting memorial, drawing greater attention to it.Despite these shortcomings, Monticello remains a beautiful and important historical site, well worth a visit for anyone interested in American history and heritage.

Absolutely great experience. I had gone as a kid and distinctly remembered not being able to go upstairs. Now there are tickets to walk through the whole house so I bought those. It was a little pricey but worth it. The Tour Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The building and grounds are well maintained. A true step back in time .

Dennis D — Google review

So so pretty and such a gorgeous property. I never knew how much history really was underneath this property until this week and I’m so very glad I got to visit and have the opportunity to become educated. Our tour guide was amazing and the tickets were very well worth it, there are many attractions (that do cost) to walk through which is super cool.

The morning I spent at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Virginia was truly unforgettable. The sun bathed the iconic mansion in a warm glow, highlighting its graceful architecture and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. As I wandered through the lush gardens, I could almost hear the echoes of history, feeling the weight of the past in every step. The guided tour brought Jefferson's vision to life, revealing his passions for philosophy, agriculture, and innovation. Each room was filled with artifacts and stories that transported me back in time, creating a profound connection to the ideals that shaped our nation. It was a beautiful reminder of the legacy of one of America’s founding fathers, leaving me inspired and reflective as I soaked in the serene atmosphere.

Tommy S — Google review

If you’re doing the guided tour (which I highly recommend), it’s best to purchase your tickets online beforehand. The tour gives you a peek into the life of Thomas Jefferson, not only his contributions to history but his shortcomings as well. The house and the grounds have been well-maintained. There is an also a sweet fragrance outside thanks to fragrant blooming trees. The museum gives provides more information and historical context.

Augusto P — Google review

Excellent museum docent/ guide. Ashley was extremely knowledgeable about not only the life of the Jefferson family extending several generations. She also shared many facts about the area's history. I bought my ticket for the 90-minute tour the morning that I went. The cost was $99.00. Although there were seats available here and there throughout the house, I stood on my feet for most of the tour. There were about a dozen people in my group. The stairway leading to the second and third floors is very narrow and steep. You must be able to manage these stairs on your own. The grounds are beautiful, especially in the Spring. There is a shuttle bus that will bring you up to the house and then back down to the museum/ gift shop. You have the choice to walk. It takes approximately 15 minutes. Right now, you will find an original copy of the Declaration of Independence on display in the museum. I am glad I went. It was well worth the price of the ticket.

Ellery H — Google review

They do give map. If you live Augusta, Rockingham and few other county, they do give $10.00 off the price you have payed for. To get the discount, please go to the office. They will ask your ID to see if you qualify to have the discount by looking where you live. You do need to go through security check. They have a shuttle bus to stop in certain places. They allow to take pictures without a flash. I think pets are allowed in certain area. The tour guide was great. She wasn't very slow or very fast when showing things inside the building and telling about them. She allows us (the group) to ask any questions that we have. She had very good information about Thomas Jefferson and his background history. The labels itself doesn't give a lot of information so I do recommended having a tour guide. If you have any questions, please contacting them.

Christina — Google review

We had a great day at Monticello. So many opportunities to learn. It was a beautiful property to visit and the tour guide and Thomas Jefferson were both really good. The garden area was really nice and well groomed. I recommend taking the bus up and walking the path back down. This could definitely be a full day if you see all the museum exhibits and so the tours.

Kristin H — Google review

Whether you are an American citizen or not you must visit Monticello and learn the details of how much history happened on this piece of land.Thomas Jefferson drafted The Declaration of Independence here. He was born and raised here, and in general Virginia has some much history. That is the reason why it is called the Mother State. When visiting Monticello and make the most of your money try to arrive in the morning so you can have plenty of time to visit all the areas of this 5 acres of property. God bless America 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Susana M — Google review

Overall a nice visit. I don't think the $100 tour of both floors of the mansion is worth it. A decent amount of things to look at on your own and a few free hourly tours of additional historic stories. Meeting Jefferson was worth the effort put in by the actor. Montpelier was better .

Kyle S — Google review

Monticello: A Glimpse into Jeffersonian Innovation and LegacyWith limited time, we opted for the Highlights tour during our midweek visit to Monticello. The grounds and visitor amenities like the museum, cafe, and gift shop are well-maintained, providing helpful context about Jefferson's life and innovations. The shuttle service up the hill to the main house is a convenient option. While not the grandest plantation mansion, Monticello's design embodies Jefferson's pioneering spirit and functional mindset over opulence. The home and surroundings are impeccably preserved. Our guided tour was informative overall, though a bit too centered on family dynamics and slave relations compared to Jefferson's immense leadership and presidential achievements. As a founding father who shaped America's democratic principles, his political vision and forward-thinking deserved more prominence.Still, experiencing this piece of living history firsthand is well worth it for anyone interested in early America's foremost intellectual giants.Just be sure to plan ahead and allocate enough time to properly experience the museum exhibits and take advantage of the property's different tour options beyond just the house itself.Monticello provides an authentic glimpse into the mind of a true Renaissance man and nation-builder. While our tour could have delved deeper into Jefferson's public impact and legacy, it was nevertheless a meaningful visit to one of Virginia's preeminent historic landmarks.

Sam A — Google review

Wonderful experience! Surprisingly, Monticello is an ornate home that was very much lived in and loved. I walked away, realizing Thomas Jefferson truly loved innovation, conversation, and solitude.A man of his times who knew that those times needed to be built upon with new thoughts and ideas. For everything that he wasn't, there were other areas that he was so much more than the average man.Such creativity, such sadness. The building and ground personnel for the tours, etc. do a tremendous job. Our docent was a grandfatherly gentleman who patiently included even the young children.$22 for access to the grounds with the added $20 for access to the first floor with a guide was worth it! Monticello is privately funded and needs to be treasured as the important place in history that it is!Food and gift shops are a little pricey, but hey, are any of us surprised?!

Lee J — Google review

Monticello is a beautifully preserved piece of American history. The guided tours are informative, offering insights into Jefferson’s life, his architectural passion, and his role in shaping the nation. The estate balances his remarkable achievements with the complexities of his role as a slave owner, providing a thoughtful, respectful and balanced view of the past. The gardens and grounds are stunning, and provide scenic views of the Virginia countryside that are just amazing!

Shanna W — Google review

What an amazing site. Inside and out was so neat and the special care and insight into the lives of enslaved people was great too. Any tour gets you access to the grounds and exhibits. Buy your tickets online ahead of time or you may have to wait a few hours for your tour. Well worth it imo

Great experience! We hiked up the two mile trail with our children. It was very easy to navigate, and all of my children enjoyed the views. The visitor center was great with so many friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. The estate was a lot of fun to visit. We did the highlights tour, which was a lot of great information. Definitely walk the grounds. I would definitely like to come back and do the behind the scenes tour.

Kudos to Alice, our tour guide. I walked away learning far more than what I had expected of the visit. My group was inquisitive and some of our very specific questions revealed her wealth of knowledge in her detailed answers. Her expertise, warm demeanor, and clear enthusiasm made our visit to Monticello. The museum and grounds are well kept, informative, and immersive, preserving a fascinating and important period in history.

I am a Numbers Nerd first but History comes in at a very close second and the history in this place!!!!!! It just doesn't get much better! The entire estate was beautiful, just amazing but my tour guide…girlfriend nerded all the way out with me and I just couldn't have been any happier. She was such an amazing story teller but also so funny! She had me laughing and at one point when talking about the love between Thomas Jefferson and his wife Martha Jefferson and him losing her only 10 years into the marriage. My heart!!!The grounds are meticulously maintained and it truly has working vegetable and flower gardens!I highly recommend you pay a visit! Highly recommend. As a matter of fact, let me know when you go and ill join you myself!!!

Monica R — Google review

Beautiful, interesting and educational, well managed and maintained. But admission is way too expensive, especially if you only have a couple hours and you only want to tour the main house and not everything else. Also, our tour guide was unable to explain why the underside of the first floor (as seen above the basement) were constructed in an undulating pattern. I asked other staff members and they said it was part of a rainwater collection system, very unusual and clever design.

The Luray Caverns, located in Virginia, are one of the most well-known and largest caverns on the East Coast of the United States. These vast underground tunnels have been forming for millions of years and showcase stunning natural wonders such as colossal stone formations, crystal clear pools, glistening draperies, and soaring stone columns. Visitors can tour the caverns and marvel at 140-ft. natural columns, colorful stalactites, and brick walkways.

The most beautiful and largest cave in the East coast you must see! It would take about an hour to walk through the cave but we really enjoyed every moment of it! Although it was crowded, it’s still plenty rooms and opportunities for you to taking pictures! Great place!

Kaylie C — Google review

Beautifully located and situated. First time visiting with my parents and 6-year-old niece and it was an overall great trip. I thoroughly enjoyed the caverns, however, adjusting to the smell took some time. I have allergies and asthma and both were mildly triggered 🤧 as well as my father’s and niece's. So if you suffer from either or, you may want to keep your inhaler on hand or take your allergy medicine before entering. Other than that, fascinating stalagmite and stalactite formations. The Cafe and Toys food was simple, but it was good. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a pink lemonade. The toppings and condiments must be added yourself via the condiment/toppings station. I tasted some of my niece's broccoli and cheddar soup and I have to say that it was pretty good; I recommend it.

Best part was the temperature down there. Wish some of the employees were more welcoming when being asked questions. Young lady, working a stop before the cathedral on Sunday Father’s Day. She was very knowledgeable and helpfulWould have been nice to have them turn of the lights like they did back in the day.If you do plan on going make sure you have something else to do in the area. Not worth going there just for that. Especially if you’re coming from the dmv.

Phenomenal! Amazing! Fantastic! Magical! These caverns are well worth the visit. I am so impressed with the natural beauty here. The caverns are about 450 million years old. They are immense and vast. It was like being in a strange new world. There was a brick path throughout the caverns that was very well maintained and easy to walk on. The lighting was perfect. Everything was very well done and the employees were friendly. There was also a big gift shop. This is a must see.

Sharon D — Google review

Loved the caverns on a very hot weekend in Virginia (visiting from Wisconsin). Beautiful caverns, wasn’t super crowded. I was able to take plenty of pictures without strange people in the frame. The tickets get you to other attractions on the grounds, we loved the car museum and just walking around the grounds. Relatively short drive (around 90 mins, but beautiful countryside roads from NOVA). Highly recommend visiting.

Evguenia E — Google review

This is a more natural cavern than Skyline. We've been to both and prefer Luray. It's a 1 1/4 mile walk though a nicely lit pathway down to the bottom of the cavern and back up. It is so beautiful and a cool 54 degrees. It is now a self guided tour that you walk at your own pace and read a pamphlet that tells you about interesting things along the way. It took s an hour to do the tour, but there is a lot of other things to see there like a toy museum, a car museum (which was pretty interesting) and a garden maze (which cost $10 extra and takes about an hour to go through). The scenery outside the cavern is picturesque and they had ducks to feed. We had a great time.

Becky — Google review

Spendy but very nice area. Luckily the admission covers more than just the caves and there are other things to do and see. Caves are cool, but it was not cold. Definitely worth it when it’s been a 100 degrees outside. Very easy to navigate even with a 7 month pregnant wife. Unguided so we were able to go at our own pace.

Luray Caverns is a fantastic place to visit. The caverns are stunning, with beautiful rock formations that showcase the wonders of nature. The tour was well-organized, and the best part is that the site is easily accessible for everyone, including those with strollers.Beyond the caverns, the ticket includes access to other attractions that I thoroughly enjoyed. Toy Town Junction is a delightful spot to see a mix of old and new toys, all thoughtfully displayed. The Car & Carriage Caravan Museum features well-maintained vintage cars from the early days of engines, presented in an attractive way. The Shenandoah Heritage Village offers a realistic walk through historic American village life, complete with homes, schools, and town halls. Overall, it was a well-rounded and enjoyable experience.

AJINKYA P — Google review

I loved visiting Luray Caverns! I was debating on whether or not to go, but everyone told me how incredible it is and I’m so glad I listened. The formations are incredible and the path is easy to walk on. We went on a Sunday morning right when they opened, and within an hour the crowds were CRAZY so I highly recommend going right at opening time! Our experience would’ve been ruined by crowds had we gone later in the day. The museums included in admission are totally worth visiting as well! Gorgeous old buildings, cars, and mountain views.

River B — Google review

Great place to visit as a family, it was amazing to see such formations that were over 7 million years old, the entire cavern is about a mile long and take about an hour to complete.I would also recommend visiting the toy museum and the car museum which are also on-site.There is also a maze there which I did not do but it seemed fun

Maaviya F — Google review

Great place to see cave formations! Kid and mobility friendly. There is a total of 1.5 mi walk, sloped paved trail with hand rails available many places, but no benches or bathrooms along the way. A couple behind us had a stroller, and another with a cane. They have a sign limiting backpacks, food and drink - but hand carry a water bottle is okay. Self guided with brochure to read at numbered stops, and guides at various locations along one way path that will talk with you if interested. We had no wait, ticket $30+/per, and we took hour and half with a slow mosey walk. The reflecting lake, giant columns, drapery, and large chambers are best features to view. Museums included with ticket, but we chose other plans. Gift shop at entrance/exit. No steps - but ramps and slopes.

Nicole W — Google review

Luray Caverns is an AMAZING cave! This is a stunningly beautiful cave FULL of formations from beginning to end. There were many moments where we were amazed walking through the passages. Some formations are enormous and impressive. We drove 5 and a half hours all the way from New York City but man, once we saw the cave it was so worth it! We liked it so much that we went again the next day.The hike through the cave is easy and something I find cool about the cave is that it actually feels refreshing inside there, the temperature is a constant 54F year around.SUPER recommended. Especially if you are a person who loves nature. Prepare to be amazed!

We had an amazing time visiting the cave! It's one of the few we have found with no stairs. My wife has knee issues but had no problem exploring the cave. We loved the car museum too! I was surprised at the rarity of some of the cars they have. Overall we loved it and it was one of the highlights of our big summer trip.

Michael B — Google review

Awesome experience! Great for the whole family though keep in mind they do NOT allow touching in the caves. It took us an hour and half to walk the entire tunnel. It was cool for a jacket but not freezing. Tons of parking spaces (which is free) and bathrooms available. They do have food and drink options as well as gift shops. They also have a maze to walk through and high walk but you will need to buy tickets for those separately. You can get a military discount with proof of ID and you do not need to buy tickets in advance though you can.

Visiting this ethereal destination is an adventure like no other. The vast area spans about a mile of trails that wind through enchanting landscapes, filled with ups and downs that both challenge and delight. As you explore, each step engages your senses and stimulates your mind, creating a truly immersive experience. Whether you're a nature lover, an adventurer, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this magical place offers a unique blend of beauty and tranquility that will leave a lasting impression.

We have been here a number of times. The place just gets better. The cave portion now has an easy access instead of steep concrete stairs, and the route inside is vastly improved along with the lighting. The toy and car museums are very nice, the maze was excellent with mist spray all throughout for the very hot day we were there. The rope excursion was great for my grandson, and the historic village and winery were a nice way to end the day. This is a great family place with beautiful mountain scenery. A must do.

Glen M — Google review

This is an awesome place to see the spectacular stalactites! At first I thought the ticket was a bit expensive compared to other places but after we toured the whole place, we felt it totally worth it! The touring paths were well built to allow tourists see everything at different levels. Already recommended it to several friends.

N W — Google review

Luray Caverns exceeded my wildest expectations! The caves are immense and take quite about an hour to walk through and appreciate. There are some massive open halls, many stalactites/stalagmites of all sizes, and really amazing reflecting pools. I’ve been to other caverns, but this was the most impressive. We also took the time to complete the garden maze, which was extremely well done. My young children enjoyed it very much, but the adults had at least as much fun.Highly recommend this place, and will visit again if we return to the area at some point.

Braxton B — Google review

Very fun experience for our family. My son really enjoyed the Maze! Sadly he was to small to do the tree top adventure but maybe next time we are there he can. The toy and car museums were also very fun and cool to walk through. And ofcourse the cave, absolutely beautiful! I promise you will have a great time!

Historical landmark

Sights & Landmarks

Montpelier, the former home of President James Madison, is a historical landmark situated on an extensive estate containing his tomb. Despite being overshadowed by Thomas Jefferson's fame in the area, visitors will find Montpelier to be a remarkable property located 25 miles north-east of Charlottesville. Madison was an intellectual and introverted individual who focused on his studies and played a significant role in drafting the Constitution.

We only visited the grounds (which are huge) and the slavery exhibition. Fairly priced at $13pp. We didn’t see a soul in the woodlands. During a hot summer’s day, a stroll in Montpelier would be fantastic. Such a pleasure to see a walled garden as well. The flowers were beautiful and the gardener clearly loves his work. For a visit of the house itself, advanced booking is very recommended. I would suggest a 2-3 hour minimum to get the most out of the site.

Johan V — Google review

Full disclosure: I did not visit inside the estate, but I did visit the grounds of the estate, and the grounds were great. My joy from visiting this estate surprisingly did not come from the exhibits that are included with passes, but rather from hiking the humid grounds of the estate. You can feel the history in the trails, and most trials are shaded and this fairly pleasant. Spent a good 45 minutes hiking until the humidity got to me!

Greater N — Google review

Great piece of American history. Our tour was very informative and took us throughout the house. My only complaint is that their is no museum that talks about Madison's life.

Jack L — Google review

My husband and I had wanted to visit Montpelier for years and it did not disappoint. The mountain view from the hill where the home sits is gorgeous! Unlike Monticello and Mt. Vernon, this presidential home was not over crowded on a Saturday morning. The mansion tour was guided by a very knowledgeable and personable docent who made it fun and shared several stories that you may not hear elsewhere. She also took questions unlike at Mt. Vernon where people pay to be herded like cattle through the home.It was disappointing that they were not able to display as many original artifacts as other presidents' homes; however, when you learn that the financial circumstances of the Madisons at the end of thier life led to the selling off of many posessions, it makes more sense. The story told about the enslaved people at Montpelier was very well done. The management have connected with surviving descendents who get to tell the story of their ancestors. It was a very moving aspect of our tour. We brought our lunches and sat in a shaded section of the grounds at a picnic table on a lovely October day. It could not have been more peaceful. We saw the entire property in about 4 hours. We took our time, ate lunch, saw the museum and our kids did a scavenger hunt. We would defintely go back again.

M. G — Google review

I’ve visited Montpelier multiple times with friends and family. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about Virginia, American history, and the writing of our constitution. The museum is great for a short visit - tours of the house take around an hour. Or you could spend all day here, visiting the cemeteries, the dependencies, the exhibits outside of the main house tour, and even walking miles of hiking trails! The work that has been done to the property is extensive and everything is beautifully maintained. The guides and staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable.

Megan L — Google review

We spent quite a bit of time here. Tours are timed, but no need to order in advance. For two of us, it was $75 for the tour. More than I have paid to tour any presidential estate. They just did a major renovation, so I'm guessing that's why the high price. Nonetheless, Hayley gave us the tour of the huge home which faces the Blue Ridge Mts. Beautiful, extensive grounds.

R. M — Google review

The history tour was very informative. I learned a lot, and I appreciate all of the back stories. Having been on many historical tours , including several in Williamsburg, Monticello and Mt Vernon, I left wanting more. It is definitely worth the visit, but I don’t know if there is enough to go again.

J C — Google review

Excellent tour, nice grounds to explore. The guide answered all my questions and kept us going on time. The house seemed almost small on the inside, which I thought was interesting contrast to the exterior and the grounds. The cemetery for the Madison Family is worth a visit; the cemetery for the enslaved workers was basically roped off.

Raymond H — Google review

Such a fun way to spend an afternoon! Make sure to arrive at least 10-15 min before your scheduled time, so you have time to park, check in, and walk to the main house (which is a 5 min walk).

Reghan H — Google review

Great history. The tour through the mansion with tour guides in each area was fantastic. We were there on a special $10 fee for mansion and grounds. The reenactor who is James Madison did a convincing job as the knowledgeable real person. The slave cabins were very informative about slavery.

Judith B — Google review

Our tour guide was well versed on James Madison, and his legislative history. Very informative tour including discussion on the restoration of the mansion. The visitor center had a nice shop. The DuPont family was a former owner of Montpelier. There was a small museum adjacent to the visitor center on the DuPont family's equestrian pursuits including a racetrack.

Robert C — Google review

Beautiful grounds and exhibits. The house tour was amazing and full of information. Tour guide was excellent. A must see on your list of historical places!

Joe W — Google review

On this trip we went to Mount Vernon and Monticello and decided to add Montpelier as a last decision. What a good choice that was! The staff were the kindest and most thoughtful of all we had met. They were the one house that waited for my mother at every stop. Our tour was wonderful and so informative. I loved that they represented Madison and his wife with both praise and truth about their humanity. The house and the grounds were beautifully and thoughtfully restored. The view is gorgeous. There is also a meaningful and thought provoking exhibit on the enslaved that lived on the grounds. (Which in all of these houses is the largest part of who lived there!) There is also a house where children can learn about slavery that is very well done. I know this house doesnt get the most attention but , truly, it is a quality stop and not to be missed.

Sandy D — Google review

Very neat experience! I highly recommend the tour of the house. It was really interesting. Beautiful property and so much history! We really enjoyed it as a family.

Nicole R — Google review

It was a wonderful and interesting tour. IThey have done a fantastic job restoring the house and adding context to the story. I definitely recommend one of their guided tours.

C W — Google review

I've been on two tours in a year and still enjoy the fascinating live stories of this incredible man. Intellectual, inquisitive, compassionate. And a boon to our country. Can't say enough about the staff and organization that keep James Madisons legacy bright and polished. Recommend, and do it more than once.

Bill G — Google review

This was one of the most informative tours ever!Or guide gave a compelling history tour.James Madision was a good man, unlike the greedy, dishonest insincere Thomas Jefferson

Barbara H — Google review

We arrived too late for a tour of the house, as we stopped on our way home from seeing other sights. The staff was very nice, especially Lynn, who told us that after 3:30pm tickets were half the price so we waited 15min (gave us time to see the shop) and went then (it was 5 of us). Glad we did as it is a very nice property and we had just enough time to see it.

Edwige G — Google review

While the tour is a bit pricey, for us it was well worth it. The guide was first class with knowledge and interaction with the group of 11 people. We skipped the basement exhibits to have time to see the cemetery before closing.

Historical place

Sights & Landmarks

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is a family-friendly destination that offers a blend of outdoor activities, historical sites, and museums. Established in 1944, the park encompasses numerous historic landmarks related to John Brown and the Civil War, as well as pristine nature spots and viewpoints along the Shenandoah River valley. The town itself features historic buildings, monuments, and a charming downtown district.

Definitely a gem in WV. Free shuttle from visitor center to lower town to see many historic shops, beautiful river views, and old rail trails. Easy walking. Plan to spend half day enjoying the historic park.

Susan D — Google review

This place gets busy. Come early. Parking in town is limited. You will have to come early to do that. Most people park at the visitor center and take the shuttle. It was a 20 dollar entrance fee. The entire town is technically part of the park. There is not much left of the mills. There are a few little storefronts that allow u to view the structures as they were. There are some restaurants in town for a quick bite. U can actually walk from the visitors' center into town. It's pleasant as long as the weather is good. There are some steps, so be careful. The trail begins at the back of the parking lot

T S — Google review

Is a stunning location to visit. The walk up the hill opposite HF can be strenuous in places but is worth it for the view over the town. The exhibits in HF are all worth visiting, although some of the talks given are very 'dry.' Some good restaurants in town.

Arch S — Google review

We left home to be at this location not knowing much. But on the way itself we could feel the beauty of the park. Reached there by around 3.30 pm Nov beginning, entry charges are there but worth spending that little money. parked car at the main parking place ( can drive up to the park location some time parking space may be an issue) and used the shuttle bus service free, accommodated kid’s stroller also. When we arrived at final park location the return queue was very long. It’s absolutely beautiful park the sunlight falling on the mountain and colour changing is taking place, amazing natural beauty, slightly cold, had our jacket can spend an hour walking around, great places to have coffee, beer, liquor, and great foods too.By the time we were ready to return not much rush, was around 5 pm about to close usually at 6 pm, driving Back home we choose the chestnut mountain road, another amazing and heartwarming natures beauty.

George T — Google review

We drove 5hrs both ways to visit for the day, and it was definitely worth it! The park itself is beautiful, we were there on a misty day and that honestly only made it more beautiful and weathered looking. The way the town blends into the historic park is really fun. I enjoyed the way history and modern living blend together. The park staff we spoke to were also super kind. I highly recommend parking up top and taking the bus down if you can!

"Harpers Ferry is a breathtakingly beautiful place where history and nature meet. Nestled between rivers and surrounded by stunning landscapes, it offers a peaceful escape and a deep connection to America's past.""You feel as if you've stepped back in time, truly a spectacular experience."

Gabriela C — Google review

Love that a place with such historical significance is a short drive from DC. Park at the park's visitor lot and hop on the free shuttle and enjoy the tour narration. Only downside is you cannot Bring your pets for who can travel with furry friends. The town is lovely. Lots of little shops and a few good places to grab a bite. Check out the Amtrak station when you have a chance. It's cute. The surround outdoor spaces provide ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Nola — Google review

We absolutely loved our visit! We took a short walk around the town and then played in the river for hours. It was very hot in early July (no surprise there) but the water felt amazing. Definitely would need water shoes. They had a pay phone on your way into the park which was one of the kids favorite things. They all wanted to take a turn using it. I can't say that I expected that "historical" aspect to be a highlight. It is also cool that you can walk across the river from one state to another.

Courtney G — Google review

We made an unplanned visit to the gorgeous Harpers Ferry on a Saturday. We paid the entry fee of about $20 for our car and parked at the visitor centre. From there, we grabbed a map, spoke to a friendly ranger and boarded the free shuttle bus (operates every 10 minutes) to the Lower Town district area. Wow, this area blew us away.. beautiful landscapes on one side and vintage towns on the other. A mix of history and adventure, Harpers Ferry was a delight! We walked on the bridge, went down to the river and also grabbed an ice cream in the town. Restrooms are available at the visitor centre. Next time we visit, we would love to do the famous Maryland Heights trek. Overall, we loved our short and sweet visit to this national historic park.

Neha V — Google review

I've never heard of this town until my dear friend mentioned it a few days ago, and I was absolutely bowled over! The breathtaking views everywhere you look are just amazing, a...nd I got to touch the Shenandoah River!!!! Love, love, love 🤩😍❤️🖖

Iin R — Google review

A beautiful place set back in time with good food and a friendly atmosphere. Even though it was a non busy holiday there were still plenty of people. The town is small but definitely something worth visiting

Darren S — Google review

My 1st visit. It was a whim trip. I enjoyed what I saw for the little amount of time I had before the buses stopped. I hope you enjoy my pics. The guy at the booth said my ticket was good for 3 days??? Oh hell yeah! I'll be back for sure.

Maggie W — Google review

I would highly recommend spending the day at Harper’s Ferry. When you get there, go to the visitor center and talk to the ranger. The lady I talked to gave me a lot of helpful tips on where to go and what to see. She wanted to make sure I walked across the bridge and it was well worth it. It was an overcast day, so I opted not to go to the overlook. Going to the park, was well worth the detour.

Trina H — Google review

Wow, this is a crazy cool property where the National Park Service not only owns and manages the open space park but part of the village as well. Step back in time with a historical visit of this amazing park. This is a no trash park, so pack it in and pack it out. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming throughout the park.

Will H — Google review

Lots of cool history here. If in the area I would put it on a must see list. My suggestion would be to park at visitor center and take the bus into town. It was well worth the $20 to park. The town is congested and little parking is available. The rangers have maps and good knowledge of the area and will help you with any questions you may have. Lots of little museum's to visit that tell the history of what happened there. Nice walking trails small shops and places to eat.

Nick — Google review

Wonderful little town with lots of history. We went mostly to hike up to the overlook. This is a gorgeous hike but all uphill and all downhill on the way out, so be prepared with lots of water and hiking poles if needed. Gorgeous views of the town at the apex of the hike! My only comment is I wish the H20 refill stations were more obvious. We had to ask at the park store. There is a water pump outside the store across the sidewalk from the flag but it's not marked so you don't know if it's potable or not. (It is drinkable but we wouldn't have known that!) Overall a great place to visit and next time we're going to check out tubing on the river since we saw people doing that.

Kathy B — Google review

This is at the top of my list of all-time favorite parks I’ve visited.Sometimes I go to a park fully aware of what I want to see and do. This visit I just knew I wanted to explore the history and do some hiking.I went to the visitors center and spoke with the ranger there about what I was interested in doing. She was so helpful and gave me a few maps while pointing out the hikes that’d suit me. It couldn’t have been a better day.In no time at all I hopped on the free shuttle to lower town and immediately went to the trails. The views at the top were so iconic and picturesque that it was hard to leave.Eventually I hiked back down and explored the town’s history a little. Then I meandered (as I usually do) back onto the trails and ventured along the river trail and ultimately Appalachian Trail. It was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to come back.

Nick L — Google review

Beautiful historical hike and middle of the Appalachian Trail! The trails are well marked and have detailed descriptions of the historical significance of each location. It was very educational to read and stand in the same areas on the ridge line where the soldiers fired cannons into the city. The meeting of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers is crazy cool from the overlook. We are going to come back and do a river rafting/kayak or float tour. All the people were having a great time floating/paddling the rivers!

Morgan L — Google review

Buy the America the Beautiful Pass and you are all set! We went here on weekend and parking slots are vacant a lot. Park includes natural walking trail, river, old buildings and lots of local shops. Shuttle buses are always available. A must-go park, that’s all I can say.

Khanh D — Google review

Nice place to hang around, with a mix of historical and natural learning resources. Historical aspects are military, industrial and cultural, with a well-preserved and well-reproduced village. The Appalachian trail crosses here, around its middle point, and the section that overlaps with the park is well-maintained and well-marked.I only had a few hours to spend here, and the price of entry was a bit high for that, but the entry ticket is valid for 3 days; I am sure 3 days would be useful to see more of the area.

François D — Google review

Spent most of the day there Sunday before labor day. Be sure to bring water for the many miles of hiking trails. John Brown museum was nice . Other museums were closed for renovation but they should be open next year.

Jeffrey H — Google review

Beautiful area right on the river with multiple trails that are great for time outdoors with the bonus of historic spots posted throughout. Plus, being right in the historical Harper's Ferry area with restaurants, shops, cute B&B's, etc. Clean and peaceful on the trails. Can be busy during specific times of day and year.My only complaint is the very limited parking available, specifically for the trails and river access.Being someone who lives within the area, I am able to enjoy more frequently with friends and family, but if you are not from the area, it's definitely worth visiting for a day trip or to add to your list of trails.

ML P — Google review

Very enjoyable visit. My son opted to walk the train instead of taking the bus. We took the main park trail down to the town from the visitor center and a part of the Appalachian Trail going back up. Happy to visit once, will go back just to do some more hiking.

National museum

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a modern facility located near Marine Corps Base Quantico, showcasing the rich history of the military branch. With an impressive glass atrium and over 118,000 square feet of space, visitors can explore exhibits that honor those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The museum also hosts retirement ceremonies for Marines who have dedicated over 24 years to their service.

One of the best museums I have visited so far, which was a pleasant surprise. The layout makes sense and will take you through the eras the Marine Corps has served our nation. Each exhibit is chock full of valuable information and amazing artifacts. Children will especially love the tanks, planes, helicopters, and other military vehicles they have on display here. There’s even two more sections that will be opening within the next year, so definitely stop by if you’re in the area or enjoy military memorabilia.

Justin A — Google review

The visit here lasted a lot longer than I expected. From the outside, it looks small but from the inside the amount of history that is in there is unimaginable. We spent nearly 4 hours in there and saw the growth of Marine Corps year after year and battles after battles. This place is by far one of the best Museum I have ever visited.

Chirag K — Google review

Very informative museum with great exhibits. You could spend an hour there briefly understanding the history or you could spend many hours there reading and seeing everything. Some exhibits are more immersive with auditory and visual aids to help you understand the environment or the situation. Highly recommend.

Cinara — Google review

Incredible place to visit. A must see if you are in Virginia and our family plans to visit next year because they are adding more exhibits pertaining to the most recent wars. I was impressed with great exhibits and they are meticulous when it comes to detail. I was amazed and moved the way they told the stories about the Marines. It is very true that they are the few and the proud. No entrance fee. Don't forget to follow the walking trails outside the museum. They have beautiful chapel and area for wedding ceremony. Inside they have beautiful and spacious areas for events.

Ria L — Google review

The museum was a pleasant surprise. It is a lot bigger than it appears, and the exhibits are very informative. The gift shop has excellent choices of memorabilia to remember your visit. There's only one suggestion allow ample time to enjoy your experience.

H T — Google review

Absolutely beautiful and so informative. There is something to look at and experience at every single turn. The way they pull you into the scene not only visually but with sound as well as movement and temperature change at times is like no other place I've ever been. There is also a beautiful walking trail around the grounds speckled with memorial statues and commemorative plaques. I left with an added pride and appreciation for our troops and our country!! Go, you won't regret it!!

Beautiful. Bring your tissues. I love the layout of the museum. Very informative everyone there was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The We Are Marines movie was so incredibly well done. My kids especially liked the interactive part of the museum.

I love this museum, it is awesome! The history is amazing! Including all of the modeling, but not just the history inside. It's also the building architecture, very unique! I would definitely come back.

Tommy W — Google review

We saw the building from the interstate and dropped in when they first opened the next morning, this museum is incredible, be sure to give yourself ample time to spend there. There a wealth of information to learn about our Marine Corps history and the artillery/gear used. We wished we had more time to spend. The museum is FREE.

My day in Virginia at The National Museum of the Marine Corps was simply fantastic. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the museum's striking architecture, which beautifully reflects the strength and spirit of the Marine Corps. Inside, I explored a rich tapestry of exhibits that honor the legacy of the Marines, showcasing their bravery, sacrifice, and dedication through immersive displays and personal stories. Each gallery was thoughtfully curated, blending history with artistry, making it more than just a museum—it felt like a tribute to the courage of those who served. The experience was both educational and moving, leaving me with a profound appreciation for the Marines and their contributions to our nation.

Tommy S — Google review

Amazing museum with lots of exhibits on the history of the US Marines. There is a lot to check out. You can watch a movie about the Marines and how they serve us. There is also a lot of tanks and airplanes. I like how each exhibit is organized into sections about a certain war. It is very clean and the I especially like the architecture of the museum. It’s very nice how the admission is free and there is so much to see here. There is a new exhibit opening soon about the Iraq war and I will definitely come back and check it out once it’s open. In my opinion this museum is overlooked and you should definitely go check it out if you are in the DC area!

Kiet T — Google review

This museum is so big with so much Marine Corps History. One can spend an entire day and would only grasp a small portion of the information presented. There were volunteer guides readily available for a group or those who are eager to take the time to explore in depth about the Corps History.Over 200 plus years of facts to learn and gain a portion of the knowledge. A very engaging exhibit fully interactive and immersive. The replicas of actual weaponry and worn garments during the era. There is a children's section for the family members wanting to take a rest from all the walking. A restaurant and a tavern on the second floor for those lunch and evening meals. The exhibit is ever expanding with up to date information on valuable current day events and for all families who have served, know someone who is serving or just an admiring historian. The museum is all non profit and voluntary donations are welcomed. I donated some of my money to their amazing gift shop. The items in the shop are well worth the price.I'm definitely visiting again soon. Next time I'm checking out the outside of the museum. So much to see in such a short amount of time.

Daniel C — Google review

The Marine Corps museum is a fantastic experience. It is an immersive experience as you move through the various time periods of the Corps from its founding to present day war on terror. Each period has amazing displays of artifacts, weaponry, and detailed descriptions. Plan to spend the whole day there to see everything inside the museum and the extensive grounds to walk.

The Marine Museum is one of the best museums I've ever seen and I'm exArmy. It honors those who have served very well. Plan a day. There are lots to look at and read. Good tavern in the museum for a break and meal.

This is a great museum. The staff are helpful and the displays are well taken car of. They are always making improvements. The outside trail is nice with stations to stop and reflect on our military. There is plenty of parking , and it is easy to get to right off of 95.

I am absolutely impressed with the quality, detail, and dedication that had been made to give us such a great opportunity to learn and catch a glimpse of what a small piece of our brave men and women stepped up to serve and protect our country and us as a people. Unfortunately, we only had a small amount of time to look around. I honestly would suggest to get have a complete experience would be to have a day to spend taking in the entire museum. This is definitely on our list of places to go back to! And the cemetery. It was so clean, quiet, and serene. Thank you to ALL who have helped keep this place up and running. It is a necessary part of our history!

Anything but stodgy, this museum is both engaging and humbling. Whether you have served in the Marines or are just curious about the long history of a storied fighting force, the exhibits do an excellent job of humanizing what is often too easily dismissed as a faceless organization. The storytelling technology is top notch, and the life-size displays make you a participant in the historical situations they depict. Regardless of your position regarding the necessity of war, as an American, this is a must-see museum.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, a branch of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum located near Washington-Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, VA, offers a free museum experience that explores the history of human flight through an impressive collection of aircraft and spacecraft exhibits. With three times the size of its DC counterpart, this sprawling center showcases thousands of aviation artifacts from early manned flights to modern engineering advancements.

Absolutely amazing museum, has an incredible variety of historically important aircraft, has some incredibly unique and rare aircraft on top of that. Only possible downside is that you can't get very close to many aircraft, but it's understandable to the reasons why that is the case, I highly recommend going! It's also free!

An incredible museum with so much to see and amazing exhibits. I was there for a private function which was handled extremely well with excellent food. Awe inspiring historical exhibits and items like the SR-71 Blackbird and Space Shuttle. The IMAX movie was excellent as well.Highly recommend.

Ryan B — Google review

An extremely fascinating museum with remarkable, one of a kind airplanes, spacecraft and more. Wonderful for any aviation enthusiast, although just about anyone would enjoy walking through here. Far less crowded than the Air & Space downtown, no big crowds when we were there.

Cole K — Google review

So this place was absolutely amazing. We had spent half the day there. The only thing we didn't really get a chance to do was the simulators, but they seemed pretty cool. We even went in the tower. They have to overlook the entire area 360° view. It was nice. You can see a couple runways of Dulles airport from The view. But it had a lot more planes than the museum of DC. It was really cool seeing the space shuttle Discovery and the SR-71. Not to mention countless other aircraft. Passenger Jets personal planes military aircraft it was amazing!.

Michael P — Google review

This is the greatest museum I have ever been to and I’ve been to hundreds. The historic significance in the aircraft within this museum is breathtaking. I was so blown away with the collections on display so many rare aircraft it’s unbelievable. They have so many aircraft that are the last of their kind in the world. They also have history breaking aircraft on display

Douglas D — Google review

Undeniably, one of the most well put together, interesting, convenient and organized museums in the DC area. Far superior to his sister museum in DC, don’t bother going there. The museum includes free tours every hour by knowledgeable, engaging and friendly tour guides, including some who actually flew the planes they are talking about, such as the SR-71. The museum is free to enter, no reservation required. They even include a section where you can view the restoration process of planes they are planning to display soon. The museum also has several zoom live feeds with experts on specific planes waiting to answer questions and tell you about the aircraft right from their homes!! Highly recommend checking out if you are in the area. Nothing but praise!

An Amazing collection of airplanes of different types and era. Must visit for airplane aficionado. The volunteers run hourly walking tour. An experience not to be missed. It's huge so give plenty of time. Great collection of space equipment as well

Rupali J — Google review

Do you like aircraft? Does not matter. This place is interesting as heck! Loads of history and neat bits of things to learn. I went on a Thursday afternoon and was there until close. I did not get through everything . There is a lot. This museum have many unique surviving examples of aircraft and other relics.Admission is free, but parking is not.

Brent G — Google review

Great Smithsonian air and space museum without lines or a need to sign up for tickets. Houses the space shuttle Discovery, with so much other space stuff to see. Also has a Concorde jet and just about everything in between. Museum is free. Parking is ample but costs $15. But you can park close to the entrance. Food and souvenirs available for purchase on site. What i emphysema most were the space walk simulator and flight simulator advice were $12 & $10pp, but we'll worth it.

Christyl K — Google review

Two amazing and big hangars, full of planes and the space shuttle Discovery. You can easily make a quick stop and just stroll through the hangars in an hour or so, but you can also spend many hours looking and reading about all the history. The museum is free, but you have to pay for parking (i think it was 9$). Quite a fantastic offer 👍

Janus M — Google review

Superb and surreal experience with some amazing planes. It was also very educational. Highlights were the SR-71 Blackbird, F-14, F/A-18, B-29, Concorde, Space Shuttle Discovery. At the end we also did a fighter jet flight simulator where you can choose to either be the pilot or shooter. This is bucket list stuff if you are into planes, aerospace and science! Allow around 2 hours to see everything. Entry was free of charge. Don’t miss this incredible experience

Ganesh R — Google review

If you like Air & Space, this is the place to go. It took a little over an hour to see everything: only stopping to read and take pictures of a few planes and space craft.Great place to go with family and friends. Plenty of parking ($15) unless after 4 pm, then it's free. There is even a little Shake Shack inside with good food and drinks, including beer.Overall, it was a great place to go.

Floyd B — Google review

This is a GREAT Air and Space Museum and it is FREE to get in. Parking is $15 though. The museum is very large and is sparkling clean. There are a lot of planes, jets and gliders on display, with a lot of historical information. There is a huge cafe and a large gift shop too. We enjoyed our visit there.

Sharon D — Google review

Very cool place. SR-71 and the space shuttle on display, and a lots of other aircraft throughout aviation history. I recommend visiting this wonderful museum!Pictures in my review were taken in 2016.

Great museum just outside of Washington DC. The boys loved it and so did we! It's great to see these amazing aircrafts from below as well as from above. The museum is free, you just need to pay 15$ for the parking. Caution: the museum and the store close at 5:30pm.

Marina K — Google review

I am not the plane admirer, for a while I thought I would not visit this place. But for sure it is worth it. My simple advise: if you are in Washington DC, just go! You will see much more than here in the pictures. Basic idea: the spaceship Discovery a Ebola Gay - the plane which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. So you cannot miss this place offering for free flying into the history and and further. In the case you have already been there and you think not much to do the second time: not true, because there is also a cinema and you can watch several different movies about the planes and flying - you have to pay for the tickets. The entrance is free into the Centre is free. You may have the lunch in the dining room. You may buy some souvenirs in the shop. Enjoy!

Katerina S — Google review

I like to bring my kids here a few times a year. We all love it.Inside, there is a very nice movie theater, a sandwich shop, gift store, many clean bathrooms, a few exploratory booths for kids and family, and a huge area to explore. Super kid friendly.Outside, a huge parking lot you pay at the entrance. The museum itself is free. There are also picnic tables past the parking lot.Open all year round except Christmas Day.We usually go here when the weather is not super nice because the inside is very comfortable.

Achmaa V — Google review

Without a doubt one of the best air and space museums in the country. They’re always moving things around and adding to the collection so there’s always something new to see. The look into the restoration hanger was incredible as well. Absolutely worth the visit 10 times over.

Brendan S — Google review

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is a very fun and interesting museum. There are various helicopters, planes and rockets. If you like NASA & aeronautics, this place is awesome. Your interest in historical planes, this place will be perfect for you. Summaries of each museum artifact are next to or nearby for a better understanding of them. Space ship Simulators for kids will get their attention easily. The gift shop is a great place to get things for kids as well as things for yourself for memory.

Ted W — Google review

As an aviation enthusiast, this was definitely a must-do when visiting the DC area. It is right next to the airport so you can take a bus over for a few hours and look around. There are even free lockers for your luggage. Notables planes I saw were SR-71, Concorde (Air France Livery), Space Shuttle Discovery, B-29 Enola Gay.

Maxwell G — Google review

Absolutely fantastic Air and Space museum! So many beautiful and well preserved planes and air transport with an amazing organisation with clear information on display. The place is very big so be prepared to walk a couple hours around it. They have a lot of clean bathrooms around the place and water fountains so that was very good!We actually found the air balloon gallery section to be very funny and interesting 😁Definitely recommend this place for a day visit if you're in DC!

Pavinee G — Google review

Such an awesome place! Came here for the fighter jets but my mind was totally blown by the space shuttle. The SR-71 and Concorde were cool too. If you’re disappointed that half of the OG museum on the mall is closed this is worth the trip. It might even be better than the original museum even when it’s fully open. Unfortunately I had less than an hour and easily could have spent 2-3 hours here.

Jay T — Google review

Since I was a kid I always wanted to see the Shuttle up close! I finally can check this off my bucket list! This was truly a great experience! From the Lockheed Black bird to the Concord and of course I waited to last to spend the most time with the Discovery Space Shuttle. When you think about how this aircraft went to space, launch the hubble, amongst the many other missions it went to in space. The heat the bottom of the shuttle experienced on re-entry. To be that close to it was a dream come true. This was a great way to kick off our DC trip and I was like a kid on Christmas! This is a must stop destination for anyone who loves great historical aeronautic machines!

Daniel T — Google review

Fantastic place to learn about planes and rocketships. Great, eye-opening experience for children. The museum was not busy on a Thursday morning. The Shake Shack inside was a convenient choice for a quick lunch. The gift shop was big and had a wide variety of products. Parking was $15USD and well worth the drive out here. The amount of planes and things to see here is immersive. Remember to get your FREE tickets in advance.

Museums

Mount Vernon, a well-known historical attraction, was the cherished residence of George and Martha Washington from their marriage in 1759 until George's death in 1799. The estate is decorated with authentic pieces from the era and contains personal items belonging to the former president. Visitors can take guided tours of the furnished main house to learn about the daily lives of its former occupants, while self-guided tours offer opportunities to interact with actors portraying individuals working and living on an 18th-century plantation.

A really nice place to visit, both the house and the grounds are nice to walk around. The house can be seen from the inside when booking a tour however, it is more a walkthrough than a proper guided tour, bet nevertheless still very nice to see. The garden and surrounding areas are beautiful and well kept and give some additional information about the history of the house, the people who lived there and how all was used in the time. The museum is very interesting and very nicely laid out and well worth the visit as well. There is plenty of parking when not visiting during the high season.

I visited with my child in October 2023 and it was a great place to see. The museum, house, and overall property had so much interesting historical information, artefacts, and sights. The tour was well run and informative. My child also enjoyed the interactive features of the museum.

The historic significance of this home is just something!! The greatest American President ever lived, learned & worked here! As a history buff I was thoroughly impressed. Also stunningly beautiful. The landscaping and gardens were so beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This historic site is a must see for Americans. Absolutely gorgeous. 28 bucks per person. Guided tour included. You can also take a little audio device and do a.self guided tour of the property. George Washington and his wifes grave is on site. Also, unmarked slave graves with a memorial to recognize them.

Craig O — Google review

Being able to see how the first president and First Lady of the United States lived is remarkable. The house and grounds of Mount Vernon are very well taken care of. You get to take a tour inside his house to see the actual beds they slept in and to see where all the food was made. Some of the horse barns are spaced out so you do a bit more walking here than any other in Washington DC. It’s definitely worth a visit

Visiting George Washington's Mount Vernon was an unforgettable experience. The estate is beautifully maintained, and walking through the grounds gives you a real sense of stepping back in time. The mansion itself is grand and offers incredible insights into the life and times of America's first president. The guided tour was informative and engaging, with knowledgeable staff providing detailed explanations about the history and significance of the property. The exhibits are well-curated, showcasing artifacts and information that bring the era to life. One of the highlights was exploring the lush gardens and taking in the stunning views of the Potomac River. The grounds are extensive, and there's so much to see, including Washington's tomb, the working farm, and the museum. For families, this is an educational and enjoyable outing. There are interactive exhibits for kids and plenty of open space for them to explore. The on-site restaurant and gift shop offer convenient amenities, with tasty food and a great selection of souvenirs.Overall, George Washington's Mount Vernon is a must-visit for anyone interested in American history. It's a well-preserved historical site that offers a deep dive into the life of one of the nation's most influential figures. Highly recommended!

Incredibly interesting, the house is very crowded and you are filled through in one long line, but the guides are very good and happy to answer questions. The views are incredible and the grounds are great to walk through. We went with a Viator from DC and they were wonderful!

Heather W — Google review

Remarkable. We are happy to have this opportunity. We were allowed to take pictures with non flash cameras. Showed respect to slaves cemetery. The tour guides where helpful and informative. Lots of Washington trivia and detailed history regarding the war effort and details of life on the plantation.

Johnny W — Google review

I've missed this great stop every time we are in town! Outside in the beautiful fresh air by the water. Pets are welcomed everywhere but in the house and buildings but all tickets for the buildings tours must be bought ahead of time as they do sell out. Beautiful garden and quite the enjoyable piece of history. Slight warning though, you are walking either up hill or down, so they do have benches to rest if needed.

Samantha W — Google review

We came during the Colonial Fair weekend and it was a nice atmosphere. We got there early at gate opening at 9am and there was a line to enter. There are 2 parking lots and the closer one filled up fast. The website said you can’t bring in large bags but they didn’t check and I saw plenty of large bags inside. We booked a mansion tour for 9:20am and it was a nice, quick tour of the rooms that are open. There’s more of the house that are under renovations that aren’t viewable. The grounds are lovely and there’s a beautiful view of the Potomac. There’s a boat tour you can pay extra for. There weren’t good food options at the Colonial Fair or at the Food Court. It was overpriced and disappointing. Just the usual burgers and pizza at the food court. Overall, nice for a one-time visit to see the mansion and grounds.

Adam G — Google review

Somewhat disappointed. First it should be part of our national park system. Secondly for the price there really wasn't much to see. Poor timing on my part because the gardens were not blooming much and half the Mansion was under renovation. Definitely enjoy the history of the mansion and how it was expanded from just a small building to what it is today.

Dennis C — Google review

My family and I recently took a trip down to the DC/VA area, and planned a visit here. We really enjoyed our time learning all about our famous first President and walking around the beautiful property. Definitely take the mansion tour; watch the film at the orientation center and by the gift shop; visit the museum, restaurant, and gift shop; and take some time exploring and talking to the staff and docents. There is so much to learn and appreciate. We spent a good three hours here, so plan accordingly and make it a day trip.

Venessa M — Google review

I visited on a weekday and it was easy to find parking. They have self guided audio tour available and you can also scan a QR code and get the audio tour on your phone. The one with the QR code has more content. The place is huge so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. They also have a shuttle inside.Restrooms were clean. The food court seems overprice for the food they offer. They have two gift shops and I saw some Christmas ornaments, books, mugs, T-shirts, blankets, etc.Right before you enter the gift shop they have pictures of the royal families around the world visiting the place and presidents. They have done a great job with the restoration of the house and they are still working in other rooms. You can see George Washington’s tomb (the old one and new one). The tour guide was knowledgeable and open to answer questions. They have very few reenactors around and they also answer any questions you have. The view of the river from the house it’s pretty nice.

Veron — Google review

I've been dying to go here for years. I finally got to go and I wasn't disappointed. I love history and have done a lot of reading of our Founding Fathers. It's easy to get around and it's well marked. It's not necessary to have a personal tour but it helps to get some inside info. Don't forget to go by the gift shop. I got a bottle of Washington's original recipe whiskey.

Edward M — Google review

Wonderful experience. It was a hot day, but there was a nice breeze and plenty of shade. I absolutely loved the house tour. The tour guides were so fun and knowledgeable. They would not tell us about the ghost stories listed on the website though😅The slave quarters really made you stop and think. I felt they did not try to hide any history regarding slavery which I appreciated.I would definitely go again when I have more time to see the museum. We got a 4 dollar discount as we are first responders. 24$ ticket each.

Stephanie H — Google review

When in the DC area do not miss Mount Vernon. This 300 year old home is an ongoing project to repair and maintain but it's part of the wonderful story of George Washington's home. The views of the Potomac are definitely the star of the property and its quite impressive for the time. I also really felt honored to be in his office. I did the property tour, boat ride, museum and mansion tour and it all took several hours. They have an above average gift shop as well. I was thrilled at my visit and can't wait to return again.

Tina D — Google review

Highly recommended - 3 hours minimum to visit the site and probably a full day if you can spare it..!The main house tours take you through the entirety of the house as you follow a line of people. The adjacent museum was very well done and informative - specifically the 4D movie and interactive Washington decision game.Free public WiFi was available through most of the campus, too.

Ryan S — Google review

I always love coming here! It has changed in the past few years. In the museum they have a movie theater that is 4D I believe. They actually had snow fall on us, it wasn’t freezing! It was such a cool experience. There’s lots to see and do there. The food is good. The grounds always are taken great care of and we love the animals! The view is AMAZING! I love history and I’ll never get tired of coming here.

Rachael H — Google review

This place was beautiful and informative. Washington's house was nice. The tour guides were great. They even answered a question about the movie National Treasure. The gardens were gorgeous. The walk around the farm was great. The best part was the drum and fife guy named Don. He made the trip memorable for our group!

Tim G — Google review

Believe me, you have to do this! Great museum and education center, very informative and educational, and fun for the whole family. a little crowded mansion tour but cannot miss it! The ground is large (be prepared to walk A LOT) and pretty. I enjoyed the garden tour. The guide was kind and knowledgeable. They offer so many different kinds of tours, and surprise interactive opportunities throughout. Gift shop is huge with everything you could imagine, food court is fine, plenty of tables and seats. Really cannot think of anything bad. They also hold varieties of events throughout the year, check them out. Since I live not too far away (35-45 mins), I got a membership today. Will go back whenever I can!

Awesome visit. We tour the house it’s so beautiful and kept in very good condition… some renovations are in process and one of the rooms was closed for visit but so peaceful and beautiful! Grounds are well maintained; staff was friendly and knowledge on relating the history of the past of the property and the architecture of the house. A place to visit for sure…

Sofia A — Google review

We stopped here on the recommendation by a friend. We were really glad we did. We bought grounds tickets online in advance it said tickets to the house were not available for the day we were going, but once we got there we were able to get some. Plenty of parking, and no wait to get in. Tickets to the house are a timed entry so we toured the grounds first. Beautiful and so serene. Right on the Potomac River. The Tomb is something to see. We made the rounds of pretty much everything. They have you line up for the house entry at your entry time and not before then we had another 20 to 30 minute wait- so for our 1:00 entry we probably actually got in around 1:30. The actual tour of the house is about 20 minutes. But is still worth it.

Visiting George Washington's Mount Vernon was a truly enriching experience. The estate beautifully showcases the life and legacy of our first president, set against the stunning backdrop of the Potomac River. The main mansion is meticulously preserved, with guided tours that offer fascinating insights into Washington's life, his family, and the era he lived in. The attention to detail in the furnishings and decor reflects the historical significance of the site. The grounds are equally impressive, featuring beautiful gardens, a working farm, and stunning views of the river. The museum exhibits are informative, providing a deeper understanding of Washington's contributions and the complexities of his life, including his role as a slave owner.Staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. I highly recommend visiting Mount Vernon to anyone interested in American history. It's a place that pays homage to a pivotal figure and offers a peaceful escape into the past.

George Washington’s Mount Vernon was a beautiful experience. I came here once as a kid and I loved it so much. I came back more than a decade later. There’s so much history to learn and knowledge to be gained here. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re an American or just a history lover.10/10 recommend

As a lifelong Virginian, it felt odd that I couldn't recall ever visiting Mount Vernon. So, we finally decided to make the trip—and we’re so glad we did.Getting there requires some patience, as the area is notorious for heavy traffic. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time for delays. Fortunately, once we arrived, parking was both free and conveniently located just a short walk from the entrance. One of the highlights for us was bringing our dogs, knowing George Washington’s love of dogs. To our delight, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We've never felt so welcomed when traveling with pets. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting a positive tone for the rest of our visit. The grounds themselves are stunning, with breathtaking views all around. While there are some hills to navigate, the walking is manageable for most people. On the day we visited, it was fairly busy with school groups and an American Friends of Lafayette event, but we still managed to learn something new, which made the experience even more worthwhile. If I had to point out a downside, it would be the tour of the mansion itself. Multiple groups converged at the same time, leading to a crowded and somewhat uncomfortable experience. We were sandwiched between groups, which limited our ability to fully appreciate the rooms inside the mansion. All in all, though, it was a wonderful experience. While I wouldn’t go out of my way to fight through traffic just to visit, I would certainly stop by again if I were in the area. If you haven’t been to Mount Vernon yet, it’s definitely worth the trip!

The Lincoln Memorial is a towering tribute to American president Abraham Lincoln, with sculptures and murals depicting his life and work. It can get extremely busy during the day, so it's best to visit during dawn or late at night when it's less crowded.

Truly spectacular memorial. An absolute must see. Lincoln is absolutely massive! It is very busy so trying to get a picture can be quite difficult without getting others in the frame. The site itself is well kept and clean. It’s lovely and spacious and nice and cool too. They had construction on the outside steps which for a photo op was annoying lol but the main masterpiece is inside of course.

Francesca P — Google review

Go at night. I’m telling you, it felt powerful. We were there at midnight. The energy there was unbelievable while it was quiet and empty. The way it lit up. The walk through the park to it. Had a great experience with my husband. Could’ve been the dank weed though.

Nik N — Google review

Not crowded in the mornings. The construction of Lincoln Memorial Museum was in place. Some of the ramps are blocked. Is a quiet place regarding the amount of people in there.

Johan C — Google review

Visiting the Lincoln Memorial is a humbling experience, particularly when standing before the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln. The statue’s sheer size makes you feel small, emphasizing the greatness of the man it honors. Despite the crowds, the monument’s grandeur and the powerful inscriptions on the walls leave a lasting impression. The view of the Washington Monument from this vantage point was magnificent, with the grandeur of both landmarks set against an expansive backdrop creating a profound sense of awe and historical significance.

Highway V — Google review

Symbolic, yes. Beautiful, yes. Accessible, no. Due to the constructions to make a museum in the undercroft below, the memorial is going through a construction phase that makes it unappealing until at least, 2025-2026. Moreover, parking and getting to the Memorial by car is almost impossible, take the DC Circulator, arrive at night, or be patient. You can still admire the great interior and the facade facing the Potomac but the real appeal is gone for a while. This review might change in a few years but I would totally take my precautions.

Pedro A — Google review

At the time of my visit, it's under construction but even with that, to see & experience this monument in real life is something truly amazing. Being from New Mexico, this is definitely something u won't see out there obviously. It's definitely a historic landmark & such a beautiful sight to see. Plus, it's free. Prepare for a lot of walking or rent u a bike if u plan on traveling between monuments in the area.

Desiree G — Google review

Perfect if you want to get your steps on. Going from one end of the water to the other probably took 15 minutes of walking, and we had to do that twice. Not complaining, though—there is a beautiful view of not only the memorial but also the surrounding nature. If you are a big history buff or are just intrigued by the idea of standing where former presidents stood, this is a must-visit.

The Lincoln Memorial is a majestic monument honoring Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Located at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., it's a popular tourist destination and a symbol of American democracy.Currently under construction. Still you can visit the statue. Plus a huge temporary ramp is constructed to move around. The memorial is a large, white marble structure inspired by the Parthenon in Athens. Inside, a colossal statue of Lincoln sits enthroned, gazing out over the Reflecting Pool. The Lincoln Memorial is a powerful and moving tribute to a man who led the nation through its greatest crisis. It's a place of reflection and contemplation, offering a sense of peace and inspiration.

Prasad K — Google review

Very impressive monument. Easily accessible. There’s street parking along the Potomac river and it’s a quick walk. A couple kiosks with food and drinks. Don’t forget to have your national park passport stamped in one of the official visitor bureaus or kiosks.

Olivier D — Google review

Very awesome place much different now compared to 80's more roads are blocked off where once you could drive threw. As time prevails, things change. There are lots of food trucks for sure, back in the it was a friends house or restaurant.

Kris B — Google review

Amazing to see! Beautiful to sit and look everything. Much larger than I imagined in person. Wasn't crowded when we were there so that was great. Be careful on the stairs.

T W — Google review

It’s something every American should see, at least once in their life. An extremely powerful national site which will captivate you regardless of when you get there.I was fortunate to have time on a recent trip to go very early in the morning as part of my daily run. Being there completely alone was an experience unlike no other.

Ryan B — Google review

There was a renovation job that covered half of the stairs, so that the statue cannot be easily seen from the outside. We have to climb up the stairs until the exact level where the statue positioned.Nevertheless, it’s still a good experience to see with own eyes the renowned statue we used to see in hollywood movies 😊.

Dian P — Google review

The Lincoln Memorial is one of the must sees of any visit to DC. The hushed crowd when we visited were from every religion and region of both the United States and the world. Paid street parking is available along Constitution Ave. We visited during the heat of summer and I would recommend a water bottle, sunglasses and hat. There are drinking fountains/water bottle refill stations along the way. The closest street parking is a couple of blocks away. There are bathrooms. The Lincoln Memorial is partially under construction as they add an air conditioned museum and theater to the "basement" of the Memorial due to open in 2026.

Steve F — Google review

Firstly, it is extremely busy. Lot's of people. But still worth going to see. It is humongous, you feel dwarfed by the size of it. Very impressive. A must see. Plus the view from the steps is amazing.

Thurso L — Google review

A very impressive statue. Towering high above all who gaze upon him, Lincoln’s Memorial does command a silent respect. Reading the plaques, one can be impressed upon the turmoil that this President had led the nation through. The memorial is currently undergoing renovations, but is still open to visitors.

Currently under construction so a giant ramp is built so people can still get access. If you are looking for the perfect photo opportunity, now isn’t the time. When you get to the top, be prepared because there is no air circulation and it can be suffocating on a hot summer day with a lot of people. Other than that, it’s a great experience and I recommend it.

A must see morial on your trip to DC, they have ride share docks right next to the building for convenient access to the site. There is construction there now but you can still see the Statue on the inside without any obstruction. The reflection of the obelisk is magnificent from that side of the pond.

A must-see in Washington D.C. Don't miss it out, it's mega impressive. You can visit by night and it's super nice. There is also a wheelchair access very well done.

Hugo S — Google review

A must see if you are in Washington! Lincoln sits high up magestically in his chair in his lavishly decorated and carved memorial! Easy access as wheelchair ramps have been constructed. Busy but not overly and there is room for pictures with lincoln. Great views to to Washington memorial. Public Washrooms also located on both sides of the pond towards the Washington memorial. Many street vendors with drinks and food.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a monument in Washington, D.C., to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. The wall of names contains the names of more than 58,000 soldiers who died or went missing in action. It is a place of solace for many Americans, especially those looking for information about a loved one whose name is on the wall.

There’s a lot of history with this memorial. Too much drama related to the war and a very charged American population, thus the memorial that cuts deep into the earth and looks like a wound that has been healing for years. The reflective wall allows us to look past the names and realize that, in a different age, those names could have been ours. I wasn’t aware that 1/2 of those who died were only 18 years of age and the average age of those who passed away is just over 19.God bless our veterans and their families for the trial is equally tough to bear for those who died and those who survived.

I was able to make my way from Spokane Washington to Washington DC in a car with my 82-year-old Air Force veteran father, Vietnam vet and was able to get him to the wall something he was very hesitant on doing. Being there was the most surreal thing I've ever seen, he enjoyed it because it brought back memories but it also gave him some closure on it. He was able to see one gentleman on the wall he wasn't able to actually walk to it but I was able to take a picture of it and find him in the directory. It was a bucket list moment for sure seeing everything even though it was 100° + 65% humidity it was well worth the trip and everything going along with it. What are veterans faced during that time period was very very emotionally charged there was not a dry eye on that whole walk past that wall It was once in a lifetime.

William D — Google review

I find this the most poignant of the war memorials around The Mall. Its simplicity makes it an eloquent tribute to the loss of all those whose names are inscribed on the walls, highlighting the loss of so many (primarily young) lives rather than entering into the debate over the war itself. This is a place of contemplation, moving and beautiful, which should certainly be visited by anyone who can.

Phil B — Google review

Walking to the Vietnam Memorial, i could feel this overwhelming rush of emotion. Unfortunately my father had passed away before him and I could see it together. While I was there, a woman had walked up to two gentlemen who can hell someone find someone on the wall. She had told them there was a soldier missing in action from her hometown. And could they help her locate him. Because those who came here before could not find him. They looked in their book and told her he is definitely on the wall. She said where? They told just turn around. And pointed here he is. It was an awesome thing to see.

We were deeply moved with a profound emotional recharge when we visit the memorial at night. At the corner of the year 1959, in one second one sees the reflecfion of the Washington monument and in the next one finds the reflection of Lincoln Memorial. One of a kind experience. Out of many, One.

Beautiful memorial! When I was here there was a veteran giving information which gave me the chills as u hear stories that are not from movies or books but real first hand stories! The sculpture is really realistic! The female medic sculpture is also worth visiting and is a few meters right next to it!

Title: A Walk Through History: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial ExperienceReview:Recently, I had the profound experience of visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. Seeing over 58,000 names etched in black granite as I approached The Wall hit me with a wave of solemnity and respect. The names are organized chronologically, creating a timeline of sacrifice that is both humbling and heartbreaking. A Vietnam veteran volunteering his time shared stories and insights that brought the history and significance of the memorial to life. His dedication to educating visitors and honoring his fallen comrades was profoundly moving.Walking along The Wall and reading some names, I felt a profound connection to the past. The two statues, the Three Soldiers and the Vietnam Women's Memorial added layers of context and emotion to the experience. The Three Soldiers statue, positioned to look upon The Wall, serves as a poignant reminder of the young men who fought and the friends they lost. The Vietnam Women's Memorial, honoring the over 265,000 women who served, particularly resonated with me, highlighting women's often overlooked contributions and sacrifices during the war.The location of the memorial, pointing directly to the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, adds to its significance. It's a space that invites reflection and remembrance, open 24 hours a day for anyone seeking to pay their respects. Rangers and interpretive programs are available daily to enrich the visitor experience, ensuring that the stories of those who served are never forgotten. My visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was a poignant journey through history that I recommend to anyone seeking to understand and honor the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War.

Every time I visit this memorial I get goosebumps and a knot in my throat. Such a waste of lives. I am retired from the military and went in just after the end of this useless war. Please show reverence and respect when visiting.

A very somber yet beautiful memorial to remind us of those that lost their lives in this war. My uncle lost his life in this war 10 years before I was born. His name will forever be a part of history.

You never really realize how many casualties war brings until you visit places like these. It's a beautiful park, with luscious green grass, meaningful statues, and most of all, it's a fitting place to remember the people who died. Our tour guide showed us the name of a man he knew on the wall. It's a lovely place to think.

Selena M — Google review

The memorial is a massive wall that lists the names of the more than 58,000 servicemen and women who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. It’s close to the Lincoln memorial.

Close to other memorials. Easy to access and navigate wide flat surfaces. Very beautiful tribute walk and walk path with many leaving behind gifts of remembrance.

Scottie M — Google review

As a visitor, I was humbled and impressed in equal measure. This gracious monument is deceptively simple yet conveys great honour and respect. In an area that is replete with history and tradition, this might be the best - and having just come from the majestic Gettysburg Address in the Lincoln Memorial, that’s saying something

Ian T — Google review

Most of the monuments and memorial take on a different vibe as the sun goes down. For most the white some become whiter but for the Vietnam Memorial the darker skies bring out the darkness of the stone. Make sure you find the soldiers and nurse memorials around the Vietnam one. Pay attention to the market next to the name: diamonds and crosses. If you feel ambitious find my dad - James “Doc” Loy.

Rob L — Google review

It felt so unassuming walking up to it on a cold snow covered morning with next to no one around. I’ve read and heard a lot about this unique memorial over the years and finally having seen it in person, now I understand the reverence it instills in those who open themselves to its experience and message.

Dan I — Google review

Although most people will go to the wall, it's important to note there are other parts of the memorial to see, as well.It was helpful to have the volunteers there to answer questions. Really powerful to read the stories that were left in the cracks of the wall to connect names with real people.

A Silent Tribute: The Vietnam Veterans MemorialThe Vietnam Veterans Memorial is more than just a monument; it's a pilgrimage for those seeking to honor and remember the sacrifices made by American soldiers during the Vietnam War. This understated yet powerful structure, designed by Maya Lin, is a testament to the enduring spirit of those who served. The wall's signature black granite panels, etched with the names of fallen soldiers, create a haunting and reflective atmosphere. As visitors trace their fingers along the names, they are confronted with the stark reality of the human cost of war. The wall's reflective surface allows visitors to see themselves alongside the names, fostering a sense of connection and empathy. One of the most striking features of the memorial is its absence of traditional statues or monuments. Instead, the wall's minimalist design invites visitors to contemplate the profound impact of war on individuals, families, and society as a whole. The memorial's simplicity is its strength, allowing visitors to connect with the fallen soldiers on a personal level.Beyond its architectural significance, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial has become a symbol of healing and reconciliation. It is a place where veterans, families, and the public can come together to honor the sacrifices made and to remember those who were lost. The memorial's impact is evident in the countless stories of healing and closure that have emerged from its walls. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a timeless tribute to the men and women who served their country during a tumultuous era. It is a place of reflection, remembrance, and healing, and its legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. KBP US ARMY/FAM GW Lodge 285August 2024

It’s a good walk around the memorial, you’ll see many families honoring their lost loved ones. Most people are usually respectful towards each other here. It’s a tribute to the 58,000 men and women that lost their lives during the war. It’s open 24 hours of the day. In this area, you’ll find 3 pieces, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall, the Three Servicemen statue, and the Vietnam Women’s memorial. Admission is free. I recommend just taking the train and walking over here. Parking can be very limited.

Museums

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History is the most visited natural history museum in the world, with 127 million items on display. The museum features rotating exhibits, including a Deep Time exhibit that takes guests back millions of years and showcases specimens such as dinosaur fossils.

Went here with the family and enjoyed the exhibits here. I thought this was better than the one in New York and the best part? It was free. There were lots of interesting and well-laid out exhibits here prompting you to explore the entire museum. The gem and jewels exhibit was pretty cool and the kids loved seeing the size of the gems and their values.

“A Must-Visit for All Ages!”The National Museum of Natural History is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with incredible exhibits that are both educational and awe-inspiring. The Hall of Fossils is a highlight—seeing the life-sized dinosaur skeletons up close is a thrilling experience for both kids and adults alike. The Hope Diamond and the gemstone collection are stunning, showcasing natural beauty and history in one place. What I loved most is the diversity of exhibits. You can explore ancient civilizations, learn about ocean life in the Sant Ocean Hall, and get a close look at exotic animals in the Hall of Mammals. The museum also does an excellent job of engaging visitors with interactive displays and informative guides. The best part? Admission is free, making it accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a history buff, a science enthusiast, or simply looking for a family-friendly day out, this museum has something for everyone. I highly recommend setting aside at least a few hours to fully explore everything it has to offer!

DC’s Smithsonian Museums are some of the best in the US! They may be overwhelmed with lots of visitors at times but that does not take away the experience. You can spend a few full day touring them all easily. It’s for any age categories. Everyone could easily find something to enjoy. There’s lot of things to learn. One of the best ones for the kids/teenagers is the Museum of Natural History! You can check dinosaurs, human evolution, sea animals, animals across the world, insects, special butterfly experience and even enjoy some of the Coffee shops inside. The food is not the best and it’s pretty overpriced but since the museum entry is free, it’s alright. Parking garages that are a few minutes walking distance charge $15 per day over the weekend and that’s not bad at all! Enjoy! We will be back!

I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. It was a truly mind-blowing experience! The museum is massive, with exhibits on everything from dinosaurs to deep-sea creatures. I spent hours exploring the different halls, feeling like a kid again as I marveled at the incredible specimens on display. The Ocean Hall was particularly impressive. The giant whale skeletons were awe-inspiring, and the interactive exhibits made learning about marine life even more fun. I also loved the Fossil Hall, where I got to see up-close replicas of ancient dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. The National Museum of Natural History is a must-visit for anyone interested in science or the natural world. It's a place where you can truly appreciate the diversity and beauty of our planet.Entry is free to this museum.

By far my favorite museum I have been to, not just in DC. An experience like no other, I could not stop taking pictures. The mammal, fossil, gem and mineral exhibits were all amazing. I really liked the cell phone exhibit as well. Very educational, happy to have learned about so many amazing things that came to be in our world in the last millions/billions of years! The only negative thing I have to say is that given the level of care and detail that was put into each and every item in each exhibit, I was surprised at how smelly and dirty the bathroom was. Did not diminish the experience but it's something I would hope they improve upon.

First time at the Smithsonian for us. Had a great time exploring the Natural History Museum and the Aerospace Museum. Just had an afternoon to spend there. When you go, definitely give yourself a couple days to see the most you can. You need to reserve tickets for the Space Museum, they are free. We still had to wait 30+ minutes to get in even with tickets. Natural History was no wait except to get through security, which was just a few minutes and did not need to reserve tickets for this one. Used ParkWhiz for space reservation, which was a big help! Definitely recommend spending time at the Smithsonian-you will love it!!

This is a great museum for friends, family, or solo trips! I highly recommend for locals and tourists alike. With a broad variety of exhibitions, nice public restrooms, and a food court on the lower level, it’s easy to spend a full day here.I recommend going on a weekday, since it will be less crowded, but even if that isn’t feasible, it’s worth checking out! I’ve gone to this museum multiple times and almost always learn something new.My favorite exhibit is the Hope Diamond! Definitely a DC staple.

Ann V — Google review

So much to look at and explore! Plan to spend a good portion of the day there if you want to take in the full experience! I'm the type of person that will spend 2 hours and see most, knowing I will save some of the exhibits for my next visit so I can truly appreciate everything that this museum has to offer! One thing to keep in mind, they have a butterfly exhibit where you can purchase tickets to go inside the butterfly habitat. Please note that the butterfly habitat entry is only open Sundays through Thursday, so Friday and Saturdays do not have tickets available to walk inside the butterfly habitat. Still a great experience! Everything that we saw was great, historical, and educational!

Amazing museum. Free to the public. I would recommend getting there when they open because it does get busier as the day progresses. The dinosaur exhibit was fantastic. There are so many prehistoric fossils and true to size replicas. Super neat and informative for all ages. Don't skip the jewel room! By far my favorite with beautiful timeless pieces including the Hope Diamond.🤩

This museum is huge. It is a very amazing museum. The gem collection in this museum is out of this world. I was completely blown away with the amount of specimens that they have . They have the science and history for days. I could’ve spent a whole week in this museum. I easily spent four hours in this museum and I was rushing because I had to get to the air in space for my timed entry.

Douglas D — Google review

Look it's a Smithsony, it's gonna rock. This last visit we came for the free butterfly experience, which was fantastic to see all the colorful bugs flapping around and enjoying the flowers and the mist. There's also a lot of other bugs nearby to explore, and my youngest kid went bonkers over the animal section downstairs. Definitely plan a day or two for it!

Benjamin B — Google review

I absolutely loved this museum! It is free! I did miss the giant squid and pterodactyl. They have an elephant exhibit but it is only an Asian elephant in the entry currently and a femur upstairs. I do not get that part. The worst part of it was a phone exhibit of selfies that took a whole exhibit 😢 Why not have more natural history. Phones are not part of nature or history. We all currently have cell phones… how is this history?

Gina F — Google review

Beautiful museum. Blows my mind that a museum of this quality is being offered for free. Nice amount of interactive elements for the kids. Some need to be repaired. Our kids loved it. Wish we had more time to explore it. One hour certainly wasn't enough. No reservations needed for this museum.

Koen Z — Google review

Came at 10am when they opened with the intention to stay around 2 hours. Ended up being there 5 hours and could have stayed even longer. The museum is awesome, I especially enjoyed the Night Sky exhibition, Hall of Fossils and Hall of Geology and Minerals. As it is free, you can make a donation while leaving, which I did

Steff — Google review

Absolutely loved it. My daughter and I had the best time. My favorite was the natural gems. Nature doing it's awesome wonderful thing. And the interactive experiences were loads of fun. So much to see and learn. They have very affordable gifts shops as well on every floor and for every age.

Alvetia W — Google review

We have been in this museum twice. Once in the weekday and once on Saturday. I advise to not go anywhere on Saturday, it is hard to move anywhere. Anyway, we have enjoyed both of the times, there is so much to see, learn and have fun. We have spent there both of the times several hours. Just take your time and enjoy. In the shops you can buy any gift you would like to: book of postcard start with and kimono or ceramics from China finish. Gifts for kids or adults and still usable and enjoyable. Restrooms and tap water on the each floor. Restaurant downstairs. Enjoy;)

The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is a popular museum that features both permanent and changing exhibits about aviation and space exploration. Permanent exhibits include displays of vehicles from the Wright Brothers to Apollo 11, while changing exhibitions focus on a variety of science, history, and technology topics related to aviation and space flight. Family activities are offered regularly at the museum, including free look through the museums giant telescopes for young visitors.

I visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum and I was amazed by the exhibition. It has many real artifacts that show the incredible journey of science and engineering for the achievements and knowledge we have today. It is fascinating for curious people of all ages. Even 5-year-old children can find something for themselves and maybe get inspired by our space future. I highly recommend this museum to anyone who loves aviation and space exploration.

Even as the museum has only partially opened with much of it still undergoing renovation this is still an amazing place to visit. It's been close to 30 years or more since I've been there and I am still amazed at the items included in their exhibits. It's a place that you can come back to again and again and always find something new. Kudos to the staff. They're doing a great job!

When i visited this museum I found that half of the exhibits were closed off. Despite this, the historical information available was quite intriguing. And there were a lot of interesting displays. As well as interactive games that were very fun and informational. However, I was a bit disappointed to find that the gift shop and café were selling items at prices that were too high for what the items were. Overall, a nice museum with some fun things to see and do, just be mindful half of the exhibits are closed.

This museum is a must-see and is a favorite for our family. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here, so I recommend starting on the upper floor where the more interesting space-related exhibits are located. If you have time, check out a show in the planetarium. We had a great time.Due to current construction at the museum, you must reserve your free tickets in advance on their website and have to enter into the museum up to 1 hour after your time slot.

The National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., is a renowned institution dedicated to human flight and space exploration history, established in 1946 as the National Air Museum. Its main building opened on the National Mall near L'Enfant Plaza in 1976. The museum offers two exhibition halls featuring historical airplanes and a planetarium on the second floor, where tickets can be obtained on-site. Additionally, visitors can explore the museum gift shop on the ground floor and enjoy the cafe in the basement. It's an exceptional venue for discovering the rich history of aviation and space exploration. Booking a timed ticket online before your visit is essential to ensure a seamless visit, although admission is free.

Location at the national mall and near Dulles airport are wonderful. Dulles was impressive and highly recommended. The metro now goes to the airport, short, Uber ride or come up potentially, a metro bus, will take you to the gigantic hanger complex. We love seeing the full-size aircraft since basically the right brothers, an SR 71, the Ebola Fay, a Concorde, the prototype for the Boeing 707, a space shuttle, capsules for mercury, Jimmie and Apollo missions, etc. We also enjoyed seeing the captured German and Japanese aircraft. As Air Force veterans, my friend and I would have enjoyed seeing the aircraft we were used to seeing, riding on, etc. I would love to have seen a B-17, and a C-130 Hercules fully restored. These are iconic aircraft. Perhaps the museum attempt to provide these.Food at the location on the main mall downtown was frankly terrible. It was also grossly over priced. The food at the location near the airport was at least terrible with a decent hamburger. We did have trouble with the person taking our order who was thickly accented and very rude. But we eventually got things sorted. The rest of the people at the airport location were very nice.If you wanted chips instead of fries, which I did, I couldn’t order the chips the main desk at the airport. I had to go to a so-called autonomous counter at the other end of the cafeteria, which absolutely did not work. It was absolutely completely frustrating and pathetic. Eventually, an employee rescued us. I hope they fix it soon. This is absolutely outrageous. This is not unique. I kept watching while we were in the restaurant, and everyone seem to have the same problems with this so-called autonomous checkout counter. It is pathetic. So, except for the cafeterias at both locations, I have very positive recommendations.

The Air and Space Museum is a must-see! I just wish that I had more hours inside. The exhibits were fantastic, with just the right blend of history and science, so everything was keeping my interest. The planetarium—the visit was very memorable. If you are going to come, I highly advise advance tickets to really make the most out of your time. Whether you are a space enthusiast or just interested in aviation, there is a lot of stuff here. Looking forward to going again to visit!

A second trip is necessary!! This is such an amazing experience. If you’re into as science, space, love airplanes, and history, plan a visit. There’s much to discover and there’s a section upstairs for viewing the solar system and in the middle, a 7 min. video about satellites with some actual footage. Read about tectonic plates, pilot clothing, and hospital planes. Worth the trip. The cafe is downstairs and the gift shop id on the main floor.

Great, but under construction. (7/3/2024)Would go again but with about a 1/3 of the museum behind while construction tarps I feel we missed a lot this time. Also there were a lot of people...a lot. To the point were you queued in lines to walk past exhibits. This meant you couldn't enjoy most things. Normally it is recommended you take 4 hours for this building. We were done in about 2.5 hours. We did have a reserved time in advance. I do like that system and recommend it. We walked through every display. The lower level Cafe needs more options. As a diabetic, the options were not very conducive. So we chose to leave and eat somewhere else. Though I will say the sheer number of food trucks outside was insane.

Jason R — Google review

It was a life long dream to go here. Being able to stand in the presence of all the planes and history that was there was amazing. Was everything I wanted it to be.They don't have a ticket counter, so I'd reserve your tickets prior to getting there. You can scan the qr code at the door and reserve a ticket. It was super quick to do.

Great experience for those of us who are interested in the science behind the biggest feats in human history. Half of it was closed for renovations, but what we got to see took us around 2-3 hours, so it was definitely worth it. I recommend getting tickets in advance, because otherwise you’ll be stuck in a huge line waiting for around 40 minutes.

The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum offers a remarkable journey through the history of aviation and space exploration. Celebrating 55 years since the moon landing, visitors can marvel at the iconic spacesuits and lunar rovers from the Apollo missions. The museum also features the Wright brothers' pioneering glider and a vast array of historic aircraft, making it a treasure trove for aviation enthusiasts. It's an excellent destination for families, with engaging exhibits for children. Be sure to book tickets in advance, as the museum didn’t accommodate walk-ins.

I recently visited the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, and it was an incredible experience! The museum is a treasure trove of aviation and space exploration history, featuring a stunning collection of aircraft, spacecraft, and artifacts. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated and provide an in-depth look into the evolution of flight, from the Wright brothers’ early experiments to modern space missions. One of the highlights for me was seeing the actual Apollo 11 command module and the Spirit of St. Louis. The interactive displays and simulators are great for all ages, making it a fun and educational outing for families. The museum staff were knowledgeable and passionate, always ready to answer questions and share insights.I also appreciated how well-maintained and accessible the museum is. There are plenty of rest areas, a well-stocked gift shop, and a nice café to take a break. Best of all, admission is free! I highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Washington, D.C., whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, a space nerd, or just looking for an inspiring experience.

Cool museum with lots of things for people curious about off ground activities. Love the moon section which has both real space capsules, as well as some original space suits. Including the suit NEIL ARMSTRONG wore on the moon landing!!! Love the gift shop which is giant, (3 whole stories), and has some awesome souvenirs. It also has the cutest space shuttle and rocket ship plushies. The air section has some cockpits and engines you can see as well as plenty of interactive experiences. All in all, it's a pretty good museum.

I visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on a high school trip, and it was an incredible experience! The entire place is exceptionally well-kept, with pristine exhibits and informative displays. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing our visit with their insights. The museum's layout made it easy to navigate, and the variety of exhibits kept us engaged throughout our tour. From the historic aircraft to the interactive displays, everything was fascinating and beautifully maintained.Overall, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum exceeded all my expectations. It’s simply a must go.

I enjoyed the exhibits. I just wish they had some blue angels information and more about the military aspects of air and space. I saw one small blurb about the W.A.S.P women in World War 2. But the Wright Brothers plane is there and is super cool! Also why are there Star Wars and Star Trek ships in a museum about air and space?

Gina F — Google review

The museum had a large amount of interesting exhibits and had a wide selection of aircraft’s to look at from the Wright Brothers first powered airplanes to modern day delivery drones it had something for everybody. The staff was super friendly and helpful when it came to assisting visitors. The bathrooms were very nice and there were lots of water fountains with water bottle fillers. There was a Mars themed cafe with a decent selection of foods and beverages for a museum. Overall a great museum to visit whether you’re visiting for a little while, you live near DC, or you just want to learn a little more about airplanes.

Kai F — Google review

my favorite museum in all of dc. it was such an amazing experience seeing all the planes and cars and astronaut outfits. i highly suggest getting tickets early. i got mines a day before but they sell out pretty quickly. it’s free. the line is very very long but took only 10 minutes to get in.

Abu B — Google review

Wonderful museum in the heart of the city. A must visit for any trip to DC especially for older children. They have some amazing artifacts including the original Wright Brothers plane. To top it off, the museum is free. However for this one, advance bookings are needed presumably to manage visitor numbers. The extension near Dulles airport has an even more impressive collection of aircraft and is definitely worth a visit.

Asad S — Google review

This review would have been 5 stars if half the place wasn't closed for renovation.I thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibits! I booked my free timed entry ticket for noon on Saturday, so it was rush hour. The security team efficiently got ~100 people in in the span of 5 minutes. I first visited the wright brother exhibit and the museum does a wonderful job of explaining the engineering behind the first plane. Remember to read as much as you can! The moon and solar exhibits were also first class, and there are photos of "earthrise" everywhere. Right now, expect to spend about 2-3 hours to see all the open exhibits.

Water & Amusement Parks

Six Flags America, located in Maryland, started as a safari park in 1974 before transforming into a theme park and joining the Six Flags family. Spanning over 500 acres, it offers an array of attractions including Looney Tunes-themed rides for kids, thrilling roller coasters, and a water park. The park is divided into six themed areas such as Main Street 1776 and Gotham City. Visitors can enjoy over 50 rides and shows suitable for all ages.

Great experiece. Wait times were shorter than usual, but rides have not been updated much. Same things from ten years ago, but still pleasurable nonetheless. ESPECIALLY water park.DC Park is better than most around the US which have just either an amusement park or water park.Love having both.

Tesla R — Google review

This was a cute little park. Due to some weather, the rides were closed for a little bit. Batwing never reopened while we were there. Superman was an awesome ride and the best superman ride that I have gone on so far. The bathrooms were not the greatest, some smelled, some were not clean, but there were a lot of bathrooms and places to sit. Some of the older rides were fun but a bit jerky.

Kim C — Google review

Some days Six Flags is the place to be. Today was one of those days. A year and a half ago we came to Six Flags and there was a stampede and everyone was very scared. The police arrived but we never found out what happened. If you are super flexible and just want to have fun then I definitely recommend you come to this Six Flags.

Some L — Google review

Not all rides were open, so they don't get a 5 star review. The Superman coaster was the best coaster I have been on in a long time. I highly recommend it. It doesn't look like much from the ground. It's way longer than it looks, it's very fast and has 2 sets of 2 loops that lay on the ground instead of overhead. We stood in line for the joker ride twice. Each time the ride closed before we got there so we waited in vain. The park was clean. The staff was professional and nice. The food and drinks were, of course, very pricey. $8.50 for a 20-oz bottle. $7 for a single pickle. We used an online retailer to buy our tickets and saved 50%. They could have had more shade for the lines. It wasn't too crowded. Wait times were reasonable.

Joe J — Google review

Very expensive and no water fountains. You have to purchase water at more than $4 per bottle.Staff are helpful and there are places to sit in the shade. If the weather is bad then the park shuts down, so plan carefully.

June S — Google review

Very few rides open, including every water ride outside the water park. Train was closed. Most concession booths closed. On the plus side, lines were very short. Left after 60 minutes.Rides are either for small children or the big thrill rides. If that’s what you’re coming for then you’ll have a better experience. The park looks like a ghost town. Nice staff but unfortunately they don’t have much to operate in the park.

Aaron L — Google review

Worst theme park ever!My family and I decided to check the park out while on a trip to Maryland. We did not purchase tickets online and it was a nightmare just to purchase tickets. There was no customer service. The park was unkept, and the bathrooms were disgusting. I almost vomited and just entered the woman's restroom. The smell was unbearable. The ri des are raggedy and worn out. This was definitely a waste of money and time.I definitely would not recommend it.

M D — Google review

We visited on Sunday morning with the goal of riding all the roller coasters. We arrived before opening. Within two hours we had ridden all the coasters that were open (Wild One was still closed when we left). All the employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the train ride also, but it was interesting/odd to go by an abandoned kiddie section and some old ride structures. Seems like the park could use some TLC in certain areas, but overall we enjoyed our visit.

Carolyn K — Google review

I am really just trying to level up. Nothing I say is going to deter anyone from coming. I would highly suggest buying a season pass as the ticket price for one day and the $40 parking is more than the season pass. Secondly I agree, there are a lot of young people operating the rides which is makes sense since this is temporary work. Unfortunately I watched one girl being trained on the Taz Film…something in the Looney Tunes area and I can’t tell if she just don’t care or if she is slow but she really didn’t take the training to seriously. We did go on a Monday and yes the lines were relatively short. My last gripe. Why is funnel cake $20 . In the short, I have a season pass so yes I plan to come again.

Nurah S — Google review

Went on a Thursday in July. The hours for summer seem restrictive - 11am to 7pm. Could be staffing challenges - assumption. Weekends may be different. We went for the thrill rides. Batwing, Joker, Superman didn't disappoint. The lines were shockingly short. Maybe 15-20 min wait! The disappointing part is that many of the food vendors, stores, games were closed. Gave off a depressed vibe. Most of the ride operators were hard to hear on the mic. My family and I are avid theme park enthusiasts and part of the vibe of parks comes from the energy of the employees. That was missing a bit but despite that, my family and I enjoyed what we could. We also went to the water park, which was nice. We rented a small locker for $14. Parking is $40 or $45 to park closer to the entrance. The meal voucher is worth it. For $20 get a meal, beverage, and dessert. It was a clean park and the overall experience was good.

Marina S — Google review

The online price + parking was standard but the experience was lackluster. Several of the enticing rides were not running and overall the experience was not exciting. The employees didn’t seem happy to be there and a little confused at any question. We had to ask several times before finding out where to claim our unlimited drink cup. Food prices were standard for an amusement park but it was very bland and the servers seemed mad that we ordered. Some fun, exciting rides for sure but underwhelming compared to other nearby parks like Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens.

Andrew H — Google review

Drove 4 hours to bring my kids. It was my son's 15th birthday present. I seen a lot of bad reviews and was very nervous about what we would experience so my expectations were low. To my surprise my boys had a pretty good time. There was no wait to enter the park. ( We did go on a Friday so not sure if that had anything to do with it) The park looked nice, definitely not as big as the other parks but it was a descent size. We did see several rides temporarily down due to renovations but all the ones we could ride we did and they had fun on all thrill rides. We rode Superman twice! There was hardly a wait on any of the rides. As the day went on though the wait did start getting longer. We were there for about 5 hours. We brought a water bottle with us and that was really all we needed. One of my kids started getting hungry and we were getting pretty hot so we took a break from rides to stop to refresh. The only real negative thing Id have to say is that the prices for the food and drinks are outrageous! I got my son fries and I got 2 icees and one coke.... Just that was $40!The only other disappointing thing was the 2 rides we would have really liked to ride were closed but overall our experience was good. ( We didn't do hurricane harbor cause it would have cost extra, with purchasing 3 tickets and paying $40 for parking I wasn't dishing out any more)Hope this review helps.

Sarah M — Google review

The park was not crowded I guess do to it being memorial day weekend. Which was great, but a lot of the big roller coasters were closed too. It was a lot of young staff that didn't appear to know what they were doing. And the staff didn't appear friendly or helpful. They need Disney to teach them on that one.

Caressa C — Google review

This place gave me a lifetime experience! I am not forgetting this in a hurry. I went in a group and we really had an exciting experience! The place is clean, the staff is professional and I am happy that they don’t take chances to repeatedly use the rides if anything is suspected. They assure your safety while keeping you amused. You should visit again and again

Nelson M — Google review

When I came here, I expected large crowds. We got just the opposite. We were able to ride all of the roller coasters without a flash pass in about 3 hours. Superman ride of steel and joker's Jinx are decent coasters. This park really needs something new. I've been to a lot of six Flags parks and this is definitely on the lower end. I still had a decent

Scott R — Google review

After living in California and going to Six Flags Magic Mountain, I was pretty disappointed with this place. While it was a whole lot smaller than the CA version, a lot of the rides are closed (with no notice on the app) and a lot of the food stands weren't open as well. My two teenage daughters had a good time, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price for tickets. Summer sale I spent $25 each, parking is $40 and beware of prices for food. Spent $20 on an all day refillable cup for the 3 of us to share and that paid for itself. The $10 for a small Dippin Dots and $18.49 for a funnel cake I had to say no to. It wasn't very crowded at all for midweek, but I can see why. Serous need for a remodel and landscaping. Not somewhere I would spend money for any type of Fast Pass or upgrade.

Jennifer T — Google review

We got there right after the park opened, and it was a blast. No lines, easy access to everything. Our 7-year old twins thought it was magical. If you like amusement parks then you can't go wrong with Six Flags. I grew up going to Magic Mountain in California, so this was a really fun nostalgia trip for me. Get the season passes if you are even thinking of going twice in the same year.

Douglas S — Google review

How this park has four stars on Google is crazy. At the time that we visited it was summertime and more rides were non-operational than operational. The staff was very not friendly. You can't even think in the front plaza of the park because the music is playing so ungodly loud. There might be one thing decent about this park and that is Superman the ride of Steel. But good luck having it be operational while you're there. It was down for most of the day. If not for us running their first thing in the morning we wouldn't have gotten to ride it. This park does not get the love that other six Parks do from the Six Flags corporation. We were at Six Flags Great Adventure the day before in Six Flags America is like Six Flags Great Adventure after the apocalypse happened. Roar might be the worst roller coaster on the planet if firebird wasn't sitting right next to it. The drop tower voodoo drop. Has four seats out of 16 that are operational. Those four seats have the seatbelt tied on. That's right the seat belt tied on. I suggest you avoid this Six Flags like the plague and take the 2-hour drive up to New Jersey. We did still managed to have the best time that we could and I will share some of our happy pictures. Just know coming here that this Six Flags is not like other Six Flags. Prepare to be disappointed.

Richard H — Google review

The staff working the rides were extremely nice and a joy to be around, the security was on point and working very hard and we all felt safe and will return in the future. All of the rides were a blast of fun and excitement. I went on the 4th of July and the fireworks were awesome. I finally found a nice thing about the DMV and it's here at Six Flags even though I miss home in Auburn, Washington.

Demetrice M — Google review

We are an avid theme park family and we have 6 diamond passes. We've been to many six flags and many cedar fair parks and are currently touring 4 new ones . Our visit today was very unappealing. We knew this was one of the smaller parks and were happy that it wasn't to crowded as I would say that close to half of the bigger rides were closed (pictures attached). We were able to do all the smaller child rides but my older children were quite disappointed. This was our first stop after a 9 hour drive. We had planned on going a second day but we decided to skip that as there is very little to do. I would be very mad if we had paid full price for 6 people to find out that only a handful of thrill rides were open.

Casinos & Gambling

Baltimore's Horseshoe Casino is a vast and modern establishment that offers slots and table games as well as bars and restaurants. It is truly an impressive spot, with excellent gaming options for all types of visitors.

Wonderful experience the customer service clerk was amazing unlike most casinos she was amazing. The new customer points card didn’t work for us at the pizza place but we weren’t worried about it the pizza was so good! BBQ pizza on the lower floor is legendary. No smoking so it smelled great everywhere there was a smoking section outside with machines and smoking was cool. Parking was safe mood was safe feeling was good definitely will come back. Free soda machine on the wall like all the other good casinos.

About nine of my family and I went to Top Golf on Warner Street in Baltimore City. WOW!!! That place is beautiful and so much fun!!! We all had a ball! The food is good, the vibe is good, the concept is amazing!!! I am planning a return visit very very soon.

Went to check out Horseshoe with my uncle on the night of Monday, 07-03-23. He thought we could catch a show. Security told us that they'd stopped the shows because of covid & hadn't brought them back yet.I was VERY impressed with how good the place smelled. Never saw anyone smoking; can only assume that it's either a no smoking venue or smoking is only permitted in designated areas. Was happy about free parking. We didn't gamble. Just wanted to get a feel of the place. I'd driven by several times over the years. We didn't go to the restaurant. We did get to enjoy some fireworks from the parking deck. May stop by again to try some slots next time I'm in the city. Security was tight with required showing of id, I believe a metal detector, and I think facial recognition.

The worst casino I have ever been to, the entire place smelled like old seafood and pee. Never ever again. They had some newer machines but most were run down and old. The newer machines were fun, but there weren’t very many. I just couldn’t get past the smell of the entire place, made me want to gag.

Came to Baltimore for my first Orioles game since I was a kid. after the game We hit the casino for the first time... I'm a poker player so I went straight to the poker room. Nice little poker room. Everyone was friendly... Overall a nice little casino with A great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

The casino gambling was fun. The place is clean & staff friendly.1 star deducted bc i did not like that most of the dining places were closed or staff were on their break with no idea of what time they would be able to restart service. I could be wrong, but I would think that 6 pm, even on a weekday (Tues), would be a reasonable time to be open for dinner.

Mani H — Google review

I've been here before and I feel it lost some of the pizzazz that it used to have. It's still very clean and well kept, tho. We had fun at the slots. And we ate at Brew Burgers. The food was delicious. Again it was clean and had good service.

I enjoy the casino being so close to M & T Bank stadium. It's always extra fun before and after a game. Ravens fans are always SUPER HYPE!

I really enjoy going to The Horseshoe Casino near The Inner Harbor downtown Baltimore. My favorite table game is Roulette and I love that I can get Promotional Chips by exchanging my Caesar’s Rewards Points as seen in the photo below. Exchanged 100,000 points for $500 in Promotional Chips and was able to flip $400 into $465 in actual money…$$$ Needless to say a lot of the Dealers are fun and engaging. Plus I’ve met dozens of great people there over the past year…🤗Lastly “Always Gable Responsively” And Have Fun 🤩

Change the name to Piss shoe.. This place is terrible how they keep the parking lot. You get enough people money to spray that parking lot. How about everyone bring a bottle of lysol and drop it off. Better yet stop at Dollar Tree an buy some.

Theresa W — Google review

Part of the Caesar's network of casinos, Horseshoe Baltimore provides decent level of casino gaming fun. The restaurants are limited and parking is stuck to a garage that now is charging for Ravens and Orioles on home games (sad) but the gaming action is decent. Locals are respectful as long you return the favor. Security is respectful but can be long on the weekends entering the building. The poker room is very basic and there are some sectioned off areas in the back on the second and first floor with what appears to be remodeling and some secret bar room that looks creepy. I believe there is a conference room and open club on the first floor. The pizza is really good and Gordon Ramsey restaurant is okay but not as good as AC or Vegas. They do have great comp prizes (always use your players card) and the restrooms are always clean so I'm happy about that. Also the self serve soda is good. Cut the lemonade with ginger ale or sierra mist, you will thank me later.Grab a few hundred dollars and see if luck is on your side today!

Antonies I — Google review

I didn't actually gamble here but I did go to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant which was located here. It was really good. I wanted to try the beef Wellington and I finally got it 😋. The waitress was really nice and professional. I had a great experience here. I do recommend it to anyone that wants to come here. Dessert was delicious as well.

Too the bathrooms where clean and atmosphere was pleasant.Wish the had a high limit area on the bottom Floor by Chief Gordon place. Would make sense

If I could leave zero stars, I would. We paid $130 to park in the casino garage for the Ravens playoff game. We have been sitting in our car for 2.5 hours after the game with no movement attempting to leave the garage. Not coming back to the garage or the casino.

Leah D — Google review

I stood at this bar for 30 minutes while Rick helped many guests and the manager stood on the phone. Not my first time with that experience but like my 5th!!! One of the main reasons why I choose to go to other casinos outside of the one closest to my home. I spoke up this time and want whomever to note this is one of the reasons for the downfall of those casino. Both Maurice and Rick provided exceptional service, but there comes a point where management has to step in and do their part. Yet again, disappointed! I hope things change. Myself and all 20 people who were waiting felt the same. I even got a cheers from a group after speaking up (at which management didn’t care) so everyone should be aware of this. Thanks again to the hard working - underpaid over worked staff who doesn’t deserve to work in such an environment.

Pez S — Google review

I went to the horseshoe for the first time recently to attend a poker event for the run good series. I like the horseshoe brand but there were pros and cons.Pros - Close to the highway. A lot of convenient parking leading directly to the casino, Large gaming floor, very nice poker room, close to stadium, CONNECTED TO TOP GOLF! restaurants in the casino.Cons - a lot of the restaurants only open a few hours a week it seemed like. The smells terrible outside. There’s no hotel in walking distance, I went across the street to holiday inn and there were off duty police officers that informed me the hotel is now used as a homeless shelter. The $1 chips are disgusting. There was not a large selection of cash games in the poker room, but they had the basic 1/3 game and a 4/8 limit game going.

T A — Google review

Parked at the Casino, parking voucher indicated that the fee would be $5.00. They ended up charging me $50.00 to get out of the Casino. I have spent 1 hour and talked to 10 different people trying to get the $45.00 refunded. Big picture - don't go here, not worth the risk when Live Casino is a short drive away and you will not have to deal with this. Voucher included below for reference, basically, they just try to rip you off here. If you can't trust them not to rip you off with parking, how can you trust anything inside the casino.

Vincent G — Google review

Its an OK spot, a little dated and old school feeling being as I just came from Atlantic City a couple days earlier. The Poe's Nest is cool, but overall its a "gambler's" spot, not much to do in here otherwise.

Gregory M — Google review

Was in town visiting and we decided to stop in.I honestly can’t say all good things and I can’t say all bad things. However I do have a little bit of both. The pros: Free Parking, The size of the casino 🎰 is nice, the restrooms and game floors were clean, and that’s about it. The Cons: The Parking Lot smelled horrific, the ride in the elevator didn’t have a pleasant smell either. A lot of the machines didn’t work, and they could’ve had more other games besides so many slots. It’s not as lively as I was expecting it to be. So I don’t think I would return unless they improved and make things a little more lively.

Shaniece — Google review

First time here walked out with a $2300 jackpot! Good environment and service. Nice and big on the inside and pays fast, didn't have to wait long at all! Will definitely be back here! Enjoyed everything 🙌

Stadium

Sights & Landmarks

This beautiful stadium is home to the Baltimore Orioles and offers a great retro baseball experience. It's located near the Inner Harbor, making it a great place to watch a game.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Orioles Park at Camden Yards, and I must say, it was an absolute home run of an experience! From the moment I walked through the gates, I was captivated by the charm and beauty of this historic ballpark.First and foremost, the location of Orioles Park is fantastic. Situated in the heart of Baltimore, it's easily accessible and surrounded by a vibrant atmosphere. Whether you're a die-hard baseball fan or just looking for a great time, this place has it all.The architecture of the stadium is simply stunning. Camden Yards seamlessly blends the old and the new, with its iconic red-brick facade and modern amenities. The attention to detail is impeccable, and you can feel the rich history of the Orioles franchise as you walk through the concourse.Once inside, the atmosphere is electric. The passionate fans bring a contagious energy that adds to the excitement of the game. The seating arrangement provides excellent sightlines from virtually every section of the ballpark, ensuring you won't miss any of the action on the field. The food options at Camden Yards are a home run as well. From classic ballpark favorites like hot dogs and nachos to local delicacies, there's something for everyone. I highly recommend trying the Maryland crab cakes; they are simply delicious! What truly sets Camden Yards apart is the palpable sense of tradition and community. The Orioles organization goes above and beyond to create an enjoyable experience for fans of all ages. Whether it's the pre-game activities, the behind-the-scenes tours, or the interactive exhibits, there's always something to keep you engaged and entertained. The park is also well-maintained and clean, with friendly and helpful staff members who ensure everything runs smoothly. Restrooms and facilities are easily accessible, and there are ample amenities to accommodate large crowds. In conclusion, Orioles Park at Camden Yards is a must-visit destination for any baseball enthusiast or anyone looking to have a memorable time. Its timeless charm, top-notch facilities, and passionate atmosphere make it one of the best stadiums in the country. Whether you're cheering for the Orioles or just enjoying a day out with friends and family, this ballpark will leave you with unforgettable memories. I can't wait to return and experience the magic once again!

Camden Yards is a charming ball park that is a major part of life in Baltimore. The food is good with most options on the first floor, the seating is easy to get to, find and many good vantage points to choose from. Here are my favorite places to sit in order:1. Best spot is behind the batter, if your wife doesn’t like getting hit with balls this is the safest place and easiest to see what’s happening.2. Left of the commentator box under cover, it’s cool when sunny, dry when rain, great view of the field.3. Suit is nice for a group, but feels less connected. The food is good and the experience is worth it for business functions.4. Bird bath is in center field and you get sprayed with a hose then the Orioles get points. Lots of fun.5. Stand in the open area by the long building. The view is good, there are tables, shops, you can stretch your legs there for an inning or two.Lastly, about the food. Not all hot dogs are equal so go to the place on the ground level that is clearly for hot dogs only. Don’t bother with the donuts and be sure to get the larger soft pretzel from the dedicated pretzel place. Basically get the best one thing from each specialty line and combine them all. There’s also a drink shop with more beer options in the center of the ground level.

What a great time at such a historic ballpark! I’ve been to quite a few games and you can’t go wrong with any seat to catch the action. The vendors and food are awesome featuring a few local restaurants such as Jimmy Famous Seafood. Highly recommend visiting the vegan food stand inside serving the BEST vegan dogs! On Sunday, kids are able to run the bases after the game. Overall, a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone!

Nicholas H — Google review

Amazing experience. Beautiful ballpark. They do not have a designated smoking area. The food was good, but the burger place we went to literally smashed the burgers, and I understand it's the only way they can cook them fast. I will definitely attend again.

Jun S — Google review

Been coming here for years. Even as a Phillies fan it’s still my favorite ball park. The fans for the most part are great. Crazy selections for food. Love the kiosks for drinks it makes it easy to grab a beer. I wish they still had the outside smoking area that was off of third base near the street but I get it. Also, the staff there are always super nice!

This is a beautiful park. I'm a Braves fan and have to give it up for how great of an experience it was. Food wise, the Camden dog is the way to go! Even on a crazy hot day, it was great. Less than $9 for something that delicious isn't bad either. I hope to come back one day. Great experience. Great fans.

Daniel A — Google review

Thank you for a fantastic day at the park. Even in the rain, I enjoyed myself—the best place to get a hot dog. After eating my hot dog, I had to return and get French Fries. It was strange when I paid at the kiosk near section 11, and the machine told me my receipt was printed in section 5. Not sure why. It was bizarre! I never received the second receipt. Maybe you can check to ensure it doesn't happen anymore. My only concern was that the bathroom soap dispensers were not dispensing soap. After figuring that you had to wait until the light turned green to put your hand underneath it for it to work, we finally received the soap we needed. Some people got frustrated and just left. Maybe you could fix that problem or put up instructions on how the machine is supposed to work. Cleanliness is next to godliness.Thank you for a great day at the park!

MS M — Google review

One of the top five ballparks in the country! The layout, the brick, the service and the attention to detail are all excellent! Was here a couple years ago and this year came back and it hasn’t aged at all and everything about the ballpark is still great, with an addition to a competitive team. So many cool places to walk around the outfield. The sunsets here are amazing!

I really enjoyed my day at Camden Yards. Parking can be a bit tricky. I would recommend getting a parking pass when you buy your tickets. We did find street parking a few blocks away that was free on Sunday. The walk to and from the stadium felt a little sketchy, especially after the game. The stadium is gorgeous. They had cooling stations to help out on an excruciatingly hot day. The food was very overpriced. Overall a great experience but unfortunately very expensive.

I've been a fan for more than 40 yrs and my family and I finally made the trip from NC for 2 games against Houston. Absolutely loved everything about it. Had a fantastic time meeting locals that sat around us and enjoying the atmosphere.I hope to be able to make another trip there sometime.

Can't see scoreboard from all seats nor do they have score visible to all seats so I can't rate this ballpark high. View from seats were great. Tje only reason for 3.stars is only certain seats can see big screen and score.

Mike M — Google review

Great day for baseball and Camden yards is a great place to be. The staff is friendly and the food is reasonable. Loved every second even though the home team lost!!! Take me out to the ball game!!!

Jalil M — Google review

Amazing stadium! Watched a one-sided game between the Astros and the Orioles. But, I had a great experience. The fans, food, and drinks were second to none. Orioles baseball is always fun to watch. I will definitely return.

J D — Google review

Had a great experience visiting this ballpark for the first time with my family. It was a sellout but still room to breathe on the concourses. All the staff members were super friendly and helpful! Food was delicious as also!

Trinity — Google review

Beautiful ballpark and easy to get good seats at a low price. Great concourse and gathering areas including the right field porch and other areas in the outfield. The right field district really stands out with the old warehouse turned team store and team offices. The only thing that brings this stadium down one star for me is the hideous left field wall. It's been bad for gameplay, but it also just looks unnatural and out of place.

Bills 1 — Google review

From start to finish it was an amazing experience! Parking was conveniently located near the park. The merchandise trailer was available outside the venue for pre-show purchases and on the inside for more stuff. The team store was open for business and lines for refreshments were reasonable considering the crowd. Vendors were available for our convenience and the restroom was not completely trashed! Kudos team for a job well done! Ya'll are excellent hosts!

Rhonda K — Google review

Went to see a Orioles Game while in Baltimore. The people were nice and the outfield view with the Cityscape in backdrop was great. However the seats are way to small and tight. At 6ft 4in, my knees were burning in pain after 4 or 5 innings. Also the majority of the food at concession stands was pre-made grab & go style. They could do better. Had a couple of Hot Dogs and Lemonade. The lemonade was fantastic, but the Hot Dogs were basic at best.

T. F — Google review

This was ballpark #14 for me and is by far the cleanest and nicest park I’ve been to. It was so unique, tons of food, drink and shop options. The standing area only is super cool too. Such an amazing ballpark!!

Shayla S — Google review

We saw Bruce Springsteen on September 13th. Our seats were in section 55 13th row. It's completely covered so no worries about weather etc. The view was good except for a few hanging obstacles. But nothing really significant. The stadium itself seems more cramped compared to others. Overall it's a great place

Aquarium

Zoos & Aquariums

The National Aquarium of Baltimore is one of the most popular attractions in the city, with a wealth of exhibits exploring different aspects of aquatic life. Highlights include the Tropical Rain Forest, an environment complete with trees, bushes, and waterfalls that can be visited from the forest floor to the treetop canopy, as well as the Upland Tropical Rain Forest, a walk-through exhibit featuring tropical plants and animals found in higher elevations.

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD. Even though it was a bit pricey, even with my military discount, it was worth it. When I got there and went up the escalator to the first level, I thought it might be a rip-off. But once you're inside, it's incredible. The place seems endless! The fish displays, showing how they survive in fresh and salt water, the different types of fish and their habitats, the backgrounds, the scenery—everything was just amazing. The jellyfish exhibit was incredibly mesmerizing. Watching them move so gracefully through the water was almost hypnotic. Every aquarium section had something new and exciting, from the vibrant coral reefs to the mysterious deep-sea creatures. The interactive exhibits were a big hit, especially with the kids. They loved being able to touch some of the marine life and learn about their unique characteristics.Overall, our visit to the National Aquarium in Baltimore was unforgettable. Despite the initial cost, the variety of marine life, the engaging exhibits, and the educational opportunities made it worth every penny. It's a place that captivates both adults and children, leaving us with a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the underwater world. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enriching and enjoyable outing.

Robert H — Google review

Beautiful place, and a wide range of fish from marine to tropical to see and learn about. When we visited, it was too busy, far too busy. We couldn't move. Literally had to wait until crowds had moved passed fish tanks so we could see. Apart from that, I think the place is great. They just need to limit the amount of people who come in here at any one time. The photos upon entering though, they are far too over priced.Apart from that though, the displays are fantastic. Just limit the amount of people in at any one time and it'll be worthy of more stats in my opinion.

Ant — Google review

First time bringing our little guy (3.5 yrs old) and he had a blast. It was a little more busy than we would've liked but not too bad. Plus we went on a Saturday morning so it was to be expected. Lots of exhibits and different things for him to look at. Plenty of information on a lot of the animals for the older kids and adults that want to learn while going through.

Mark S — Google review

We bought tickets on site, around 11:30 a.m., and although there were many, many busses full of students on class trips, it was still a large enough facility to accommodate a fairly relaxing, easy paced experience. Did not see the show, but could watch the dolphins play and interact with each other in their “down time”. Many fascinating displays. Worth the $48 per person. We spent about 5 hours here.

Cathy S — Google review

We had a lot of fun here. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this set up. We were confused by the map at first but decided to start from the top floor and work our way down. I didn't realize this was more than just an aquarium. When we went they had some different set ups that included birds, alligators, frogs, sloths, ect. They had touch tanks and activities set up for the kids. The place is also a bit of a maze but purposely. You good the maze up and down to get back out. I came with someone that has a chronic illness that could have used easier access to the cafe (once in the maze of it) but other than that it was great. I also came with a one year old and at first I was irritated with the no stroller rule but it makes a lot of sense when you get in there. Theres so many escalators that it wouldn't have worked. Parking is like .25 miles away and was super easy to find and park. The facilities were clean and the staff was very nice and knowledgeable.

Melissa L — Google review

Great museum; so many great exhibits for people of all ages. We went on a Saturday midday and it was very busy with lots of children. If you can see the dolphin feeding at 1 they do cool tricks! Great diversity of animals and exhibits. While pricy to enter we felt it was worth it

Amelia T — Google review

Man, one word I would use to describe the National Aquarium is excellent! From the exhibits to the overall experience, it just gets better the further you get along! I recommend going at 5pm to save some money and get the discounted tickets! You still have more than enough time to see everything and really absorb it all. This was one of the best & largest Aquariums I've been to💗

Rosaly R — Google review

We have a membership and absolutely love it. Every time we go we see something new. It is huge. We love to go there while trying to save money but want to get the kids out of the house. It's huge! You can really get your steps in and they seem always to let you walk into the dolphin area without charge.

Bethany B — Google review

Great place to visit!Make an effort to go Friday evening to get half-price tickets. I think it’s a bit overpriced if not on discount Fridays.$24 was a good price.Really cool stuff to see.Touch a jellyfish or pet a horseshoe crab.Lots of steps. Very pretty and the only downside of evening is it being a bit dark to look out at the views of the harbor.

Jakob P — Google review

Visited the aquarium at 9am on Tuesday morning. There was no wait to get in, they scanned our tickets and we got right in. We were able to see multiple feedings. It was not crowded. It took us a little over 2 hours to go through the whole aquarium. As we were leaving it started getting busy. If you park before 9am parking is $12 for the day! After 9am it’s $25, the aquarium can validate the parking and take a few dollars off.

Susie T — Google review

We spent 3.5 hours here without even noticing until we were leaving. It was so much fun. It’s clean and beautiful. The wildlife was unique and looked like they are well taken care of. All of the staff were kind, and the experience was pleasant. It’s pricey, but it was worth the time with the girls!

Andrea W — Google review

This aquarium beats all others I've ever been to! Floor after floor of amazing exhibits. Many things to see. The rainforest gets a little confusing on the layout but we figured it out. The food offered was minimal but good. $5 for a pile of tater tots, but $3 for a can of water. Guess it evened itself out for the price. They're working on a new wetland exhibit, so hopefully we can return to see an update! The dolphin display is a little unorganized. I understand not doing dolphin shows but with only one dolphin in the big pool, we really didn't see much. You can also touch a jellyfish, horseshoe crab, and a stingray! Overall, a great experience and our 9 yr old thoroughly enjoyed it. They offer military discount.

Rebecca — Google review

I recently visited the National Aquarium and had an amazing time exploring all the different exhibits. The variety of marine life on display was truly impressive, and I especially enjoyed watching the dolphins perform in the underwater viewing area. Overall, it was a fun and educational experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great day out.

Avalei R — Google review

I love fish. The people who work here love fish, and their passion shows! The National Aquarium is a must-see icon of Baltimore that is worthy of serving as the nation’s foremost aquarium.First things first, take advantage of half-price Fridays if you can. It’s considerably less busy on Friday nights than the weekend, leaving you with a more captivating experience.Feeling the horseshoe crabs and jellyfish at the touch ponds were the highlight of my trip. Aquarium curators supervise the ponds to give cool info and reassure any worried visitors.I watched the 4D movie, “Octopus: Blue Planet II 4D Experience”, and the $5 ticket was absolutely worth it. Fair warning to those unfamiliar with 4D films though: prepare to be blasted with roaring winds, sprayed with cold water, or poked by your mysterious chair. Not for those easily scared, but if you like this stuff, a jacket helps to keep you warm. The entire aquarium took me 4 hours to tour, and I didn’t try any of the dining options. The gift shop has a nice selection of goods that promote conservation efforts, but I found most items to be too pricey for a university student like me.Overall, half-price Fridays rock, the staff are kind, and the fish are awesome. Great aquarium!

Luke N — Google review

We came visited the Nation Aquarium on Saturday, we purchased tickets online so we didn’t have to wait the line for tickets. We entered at 2:30p round and it was pretty crowded. However we all get our chances to touch the crabs, stingray, and jellyfish. This was not our first visit but we are still amazed by the giant aquarium, and all the exhibits there! They are no longer offering dolphin show but the trainers were up and feeding the dolphins and playing with them so we were able to see the interaction between human and dolphins! This aquarium is a must go in your life time and you won’t regret it!

Ada L — Google review

Was visiting DC and decided to go here on a day it was raining. It was a long drive from DC by Uber but it was a fun place to visit. Loved how you circle the tank so you see it from a different level. The only complaint is since I was new I was just following signs and almost missed seeing the dolphins because I didn’t know there had them there until a saw I sign when I was about to leave. Other than that it was a fun aquarium.

Andrea S — Google review

I loved it. The dolphin tour (I paid $25 extra for this) was informative even though we could only see two dolphins because they were going in and out of two pools as they pleased and at the moment they were hanging in the other pool. Our guide said that this was fairly normal for the dolphins to split by gender and hang out like that. We also got to pet a jellyfish in the middle of the museum which was really cool. I loved the bubble tubes, those were a core memory from childhood so it was nice to go back and see them again too. The Amazon area is very humid. Overall I had a great time considering I hadn't been there in a number of years.

Corissa J — Google review

It was great visiting on a Friday morning, there was very little crowd!I'm sad they did away with the dolphin show, and now you can only sit and watch dolphins swim in circles in an empty pool. I can somewhat understand the reasoning, but now the dolphins just seem board.I'm very excited to see the artificial wetlands project coming along!

James C — Google review

Great visit. Loved the exhibits and environments. There were a few empty exhibits ( really wanted to see the octopus).Overall a fine day and the personnel were SO helpful when I misplaced my phone.

Elizabeth K — Google review

It's one of the worst value for money aquariums I've ever been too. 50$ per person admission is really not worth it.1. The dolphins are around 40 feets away from you, and you can't see then up close because the outer pool is close. Also, they are about to leave all together.2. The exhibition are mostly small, in most of them have very few animals in comparison to other aquariums.3. It took me less than 3 hours to finish all the exhibitions, in a pretty crowed day.

There are museums and exhibits that I have yet to visit. Ladies and gentlemen, the United States Navy is the best Navy in the entire world. The reason we have free-trade all over the world and don't have to worry about pirates is our navy. This place churns out amazing officers with the highest morals in the world. The Naval Academy is definitely a place to visit if you’re in the Annapolis area. There are walking tours and bus tours but we decided to follow the map and do it on our on. The campus is beautiful and well kept. All the buildings are magnificent. The Academy Chapel is a must see while you’re there, simply gorgeous and then you can go underneath part of the chapel to visit John Paul Jones crypt which is breathtaking, honoring one of our true Naval heroes! The day we went was perfect, very little clouds and just a nice cool afternoon, not too warm. We visited June the 11th 2024.We even got to see the Navy football team practicing. You’ve got to go and walk the places where lots of Naval heroes got their beginning.

Attended Herndon and parents week. The Academy rolled out the red carpet for us parents. Herndon is an annual tradition at the Academy started in 1940 whereby Plebes compete to climb a greased obelisk and place an officer’s hat atop. Finishing this competition shows the first year students have conquered plebe year. There’s so much history and lots of walking but well worth it.

My Alma Mater, beautiful campus with lots to see and do. Motivated young Midshipmen walking all around the yard, many historical landmarks and monuments to explore. Need an ID to enter the campus. Walking along the sea wall is incredible, watching the sail boats going up and down the Severn River, you can see all the way to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on a clear day. Fun to wander around historic downtown Annapolis also, just a few minutes away from Gate 1.

Amazing architecture combined with statues, cannons, and even torpedoes!!Sporting events at the college level is always entertaining, but don't forget the scenery the academy has to offer. From boats and ships cruising the bay to the academy bridge at sunset, there is always something to snap a picture of.Anchors Away!!

Tour I took of grounds and museum were great but i nearly missed it. Staff at visitor center and guide were kind.Initially Google Maps took me to the wrong gate., which was only for military personnel. Men assigned guard duty were on a power trip and detained me for 20 minutes. They could have simply explained it was wrong gate and had me turn around. They took my license, put cones behind and in front of my car so i couldnt leave, lectuted me, etc. Completely disrespectful, unacceptable, and nearly missed my tour. This really ruined my experience.

So much history, not enough room to elaborate! I love walking on the academy. The atmosphere is amazing and you can see the measure of professionalism. We recently went to the midday formation before they marched into chow. So cool to see the formations and hear the cadence. The academy drill team also performed and it was excellent to say the least. Go Navy!

The Naval Academy is an exceptional destination for exploring America's history and creating memorable experiences with friends, family, and even new acquaintances. I appreciate that many of the people I have encountered during my visits share similar backgrounds and interests, which adds to the sense of camaraderie and purpose in visiting this historic site. On the plus side, it's 100% without a doubt great for walking around.

Maritime museum

Museums

Located in the picturesque town of St. Michaels, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is an 18-acre waterfront venue that offers a deep dive into the bay and its people. Visitors can explore exhibits, take part in activities, and even enjoy boat rides. The museum's working shipyard showcases the region's maritime history, while a stroll along Talbot Street provides access to colorful shops selling everything from premium olive oil to crab-adorned T-shirts and hats.

We didn't know what to expect with this museum, but were really impressed by it! It is very well worth the visit, and there's more than enough to see in the 2 days the admission fee covers. At the beginning, someone went over the map with us, and explained some about the buildings. That was really helpful. It's not just a museum, but an entire complex of various buildings that are really each museums. I couldn't possibly do it justice by describing it- if you are considering going, you definitely should! I really enjoyed seeing the variety of boats, and the building that was built all around an oyster boat was probably my favorite. You could walk through it, hearing about it with the narration, and seeing all the different parts. There were fun facts about oysters all around, as well as a complete history of the oyster business in the area, canning, and even oyster wars! The lighthouse was pretty interesting, and showed all of the keeper's quarters set up, as well as some information about the various keepers, and a big map of all the area lighthouses. There was a whole building that showed about the blue crab, and the crab picking industry. There was a building that had lots of history and information about people enjoying the water in various ways over the years. As you walk around, the view of the harbor and the water is beautiful as well. The museum store is beautifully arranged, and contains a great variety of souvenirs and items having to do with the water.

Great museum to visit and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay Maritime history in St. Michaels, MD. Highly recommend.

Martin J — Google review

We made a last minute decision to visit the museum today before we left Saint Michael's. So glad that we did! I had NO idea the museum encompassed so many buildings. So many wonderful exhibits, and nicely grouped and presented. Everything from the Revoluntionary War to modern issues of erosion and preservation is covered. We especially loved the decoy duck exhibit and sailboat displays. Nice gift shop with local pieces and quality souvenirs. Plenty of restrooms and parking. Wish we had found some drink machines as we were there quit a while. But that's the only thing I would have changed. Will return again with the whole family.

The museum is informative, and the grounds are well kept. Being a maritime museum. There are things to see inside and out. There is a screw-pile lighthouse that you can climb to the of and Maryland's Point Lookout bell tower is also on the grounds. And there is a short cruise up the Miles River with verbal history about the area provided. All of the museum staff and the boat crew were helpful and friendly. Enjoyed our two-day visit very much.

A whole lot of history on display all oer the site. The boat building house was great. Everyone was very willing to fill you in on what was being built and restored. A ver nice gentleman who was painting their newest boat answered a lot of questions about why certain paints and varnishes were chosen and about applying them. So many boats and information all around the grounds.

John B — Google review

Before visiting a place I always check their website and reviews to determine how accessible a place is. There was little mention on the reviews but the website of this museum said multiple times that the location is accessible. There really needs to be an industry standard because this was anything except accessible. We paid $32.00 to spend ten minutes before we realized that I could not navigate this property. Even the areas that has a ramp, had traffic flow where anyone who used a cane or walker will have to walk all the way around in order to use the ramp.Let’s set the stage. I have limited mobility and primarily use a walker, however, sometimes I use a cane. After paying the admission and going through the orientation with the docent, I made my way out to the complex of buildings and places to visit. There is no easy flow to visit these buildings. To get to the boat shop you have to go all the way around the building and then double back to get to the next location. If that isn’t bad enough, they have gravel all over which made it nearly impossible for me to push my walker through. They do have a few benches throughout, but it just wasn’t enough. It was if they gave no thought to visitors with mobility challenges. We were so disappointed and we wound up leaving because I couldn’t get my walker through the gravel. One if the things we couldn’t figure out, why is it called a museum when there isn’t any building that interprets very much? There are signs here and there and it really is a nice property if it’s a nice day, but we saw very little interpreted. Even though I couldn’t go to the different buildings, my husband did run ahead to see what was and it was not a museum in the typical sense at all. Before we left, the woman in the museum store did offer to give us out money back but that wasn’t the point. We were really looking forward to visiting the property and it was really disappointing how little they planned for visitors with accessibility concerns. Even though they saw me struggling they did nothing to alleviate my struggle.

Cat L — Google review

This is an interactive, expansive and informative museum. A lot of the exhibits are hands on and life-size so that you feel immersed in the history. I was able to use a tool to pull up real oysters, climb the lighthouse, and so much more. We were even able to watch the planking ceremony where the last plank was added to the ship they were building. Give yourself several hours if you would like to see it all!

The cashiers are very helpful, happy and always respectful. In fact, all the staff are eager to assist with whatever questions or direction I may need. The tables pay well, but the slots are where it's at for me. The gym has limited hours and is pretty lame, including only cardio machines and dumbbells up to 50 pounds, plus the pool is out of order. The ballroom is nice, decent spot for a business conference. Central location with lots of nearby restaurants and shopping.

This was a quick overnight for us. The customer service was awesome. The older gentlemen was super helpful. The men at concierge were also very helpful. Front desk staff were nice.My biggest issue was the $50.00 fee to check in early. That is completely ridiculous. We have stayed at very nice hotels, and resorts around the world and never experienced this. Vegas does not do this, Atlantic City does not do this. I travel for work often and never once have I had to pay to check in early. If our room is ready when we arrive, they let us in. Period. This place has a prorated early check in fee. Madness. The rooms are really dated and the bath towels are small but it served our needs. The bed and pillows were comfy. Two mini bottles of water were in the frisge. That size was a bit odd to me. I have not seen that anywhere. The steak place was so so. I had the surf and turf. The steak was salty and so was the lobster. My husband's 16oz was meh. The Mac and cheese was ok. The creamed spinach was good. The thick cut bacon was good but it had way too much fat on it. Like half of it was fat so we did not have much of it to enjoy. The crabcake was good, the lollipop lamb chop was good, the French onion soup was fabulous. It was my favorite dish of the night! Our waiter was awesome.Drinks at Sugar factory were good. You can never go wrong there. Customer service was great! We had a good time playing slots and the table games. If we are in the area again, we will likely stay here but I doubt we will make a trip specifically to visit.

We’ve been coming here since 2013 when it was formally known as Dover Downs. Since it’s been bought it has completely changed. No room service, no cleaning the rooms unless you stay at least 3 nights, they do not even begin checkin until 4pm on the dot and there’s only 3 people to checkin. The restaurant are sub par to say the least and we ate at their “fancy steakhouse” $200 late and leaving less than satisfied. There’s a reason the rooms are so cheap. You’ve been warned.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in March 2024 while looking at property in Delaware. We enjoy casinos and decided to stay here as it is centrally located to our other destinations. We found the staff at registration unfriendly and unhelpful. We arrived about 40 minutes ahead of check-in time and were told that it was too early but that we could check-in if we wanted to pay a fee for early check-in. I understand this policy and most hotels and resorts enforce such a rule. We arrived 40 minutes early, not 2 or 3 or more hours early. They made no offer to hold our luggage which meant if we wanted to go into their casino we had to return to our car with our luggage. They have a policy of no backpacks or luggage in the casino. Again, this is understandable but their customer service is seriously lacking and unfriendly. We have visited and stayed at casinos around the world but would probably not bother to visit this one again. Not hospitable.

We were in town for a graduation from the Navy Elite Flight Academy. Bally's was a great place to stay. Clean, new, super-friendly people. Free and adequate parking. Free and stable wifi. Their "indoor pool" was on the small side to be called a "pool", but not a deal breaker.

The room smelled like heavy cigarettes smoke to where my nose was burning. Service did try to help with that so I appreciate them but other then that the room was pretty clean, you can see spots that was missed. The beds are horrible. Worst bed we ever slept on. Backs was hurting so bad. Parking is dangerous. Somebody will steal stuff of your car, or it might get broken into. And security won't do anything. There's nothing to do around or in there. All you have is alot of the same slots with about 10 tables to play table games. Then 2-3 restaurants and that's all. It would be okay place to go just for 5 hours but do not stay the weekend. Its not worth it. And False advertisement with a "spa" that don't exsist and pool. Was not aware until after booking and the message was sent to my email. This is a place I wouldn't go back to. Please try other casinos in de and book a hotel near if doing a weekend stay. That's my advise . Good luck!

We have been going to Dover casino for over 20 years. We always loved it there until it was taken over by Ballys. So much has changed. Here are a few: no free drink stations. You have to pay for bottles in a vending machine. Really? How cheap can you get? No buffet. In fact, no restaurant lunch service until after 2:00 during the week. Slot machines are more expensive here then the same machines in other casinos. Casino and restrooms are not nearly as clean as they used to be. Where are the perks for playing there? I used to get free play money and table vouchers. Nothing now except 5 or 10 dollars. The staff is not friendly. They seem to be miserable doing their jobs. This USED to be our favorite casino. Luckily, there are others to visit.

Having a big truck its hard to find parking in places like this, usually I would have to park the truck at a truck stop and cab it to the location. But this place has a designated parking spot for my truck and 53 foot trailer. The room was very clean smelled nice, the room view was race track. There was no line at the check in or the check out. There is an option for a late check out but it’s Not free. $25 per hour. I only paid $88 for the room.

This place is a complete rip off. They cut all my free play because I didn't lose enough money. This is the worst and the host was extremely rude. I told her to stop sending their garbage flyers to my house and will never step foot in this horrible casino. Do yourself a favor and go to Delaware Park. So much better. They want you to buy the machine before it will pay. Please save your money and go elsewhere. So basically, the place sucks.

If you like slots, they have tons of them. A lot of fun, but don’t think of winning anything. I lost thousands without barely even getting a bonus round and didn’t see anyone else win. They were very tight if you like tables aside from a few blackjack tables there aren’t many others. A handful Of other card games, but not many and most of the normal poker games were all closed until night time after 8 PM. High minimums. Don’t know about Service because our entire day there I only had one waitress ask if I wanted a drink. Do not know about the hotel but the restaurants look decent.

The hotel is nice but the casino is a complete joke. The pit bosses have no clue what they are doing as well as the security in the casino. Four security guards just sit in the little office next to the cashiers and collect pay for doing absolutely nothing. I’ve been to many casinos and this casino is the closest to a circus as you’ll find. I would rather flush my money down my toilet than go back here.

We arrived for a getaway. We got into our room and the first thing we noticed was the remote to the tv is broken. We call down to the front desk and they say they're going to have someone bring it up and leave it in our room while we go out. We come back a couple of hours later to find a broken remote still. Call back down again and they finally bring up a new remote. The room carpets need to be vacuumed better, there was women's hair on the floor in the bathroom from the stay before us, and there was a black ring around the inside of the toilet bowl. Bed was uncomfortable I woke up with lower back pain. Do not recommend

STAY AWAY . I have only left two reviews my whole life and needless to say this experience takes the cake . I won the Texas Holdem championship a few years back and have always loved it here . Now it is noon on a Tuesday and there is not one restaurant open or bartender . I sat at fire and ice for 45 minutes and finally a bartender came out just to charge me for a sprite . They have an enormous floor and did not have 1 single waitress walking the floor . There are crowds of employees with no interest of helping any of the players . I’m have been coming here for 15 years and have never had a more atrocious I arrived last night at 830 and the capital club that prints cards was already shut down . I bring my Xbox with me and have for many years but they updated there internet settings and restrictions and now do not allow those devices to be connected . I’ve spoke to multiple employees from the casino and the hotel and not one single employee apologized or attempted to correct anything . I have sent them an email and will keep the thread updated with any response but needless to say I am not expecting one . It’s a true shame this place and the training of the employees , if you work there and read this , don’t be surprised when players don’t tips I should be the one getting paid to be here with the embarrassment that’s at place .

During my recent visit to Bally’s Dover Downs Casino, my experience was a mix of highs and lows, largely influenced by the service at the bar.The Drink IncidentMy evening started on a sour note when I discovered multiple fruit flies in my drink. This was quite off-putting, and I expected more from the casino when it comes to bar cleanliness. When I brought the issue to the attention of the other bartender he addressed it immediately.Redemption by a Thoughtful BartenderThankfully, the other bartender stepped in and completely turned the situation around. The original bartender never acknowledged me the rest of the night. The bartender who fixed the situation was clearly embarrassed by what had happened and went out of his way to make things right. His professionalism and genuine concern were evident, and his efforts were greatly appreciated. He managed to salvage the evening, and his actions should be commended.Overall Atmosphere and StaffDespite the initial hiccup, I must say the property itself is very nice and clean. The gaming staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. The facility is well-maintained, and it’s clear that the casino takes pride in providing a pleasant environment for its guests. While the incident with the drink was a significant downside, the positive aspects of my visit – particularly the clean property and friendly gaming staff – balanced out my overall experience. Special kudos to the bartender who rectified the situation, showcasing the level of customer service that guests can appreciate. If the initial service issue is addressed, Bally’s Dover Downs Casino has the potential to provide a consistently excellent experience.

When we checked into the hotel, we were treated in a way that I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I am a business owner in customer service everything they need to teach their staff what customer service means. when I finally got to my room, I laid in the bed and my feet went up about 4 inches. The mattress should’ve been replaced probably 3 to 5 years ago. I can’t believe he would charge me 400+ a night and not put a mattress in the room that was fit for somebody to sleep in. I wanted to go down to the front desk but after my last encounter at the front desk, I said why waste your time if I could’ve checked out I would’ve, but there was nowhere to go because there was a race on, decided to open my shades and look outside. I was looking at a patched roof , the view was worse than a prison. I’m sorry I don’t complain like this, but I’ve never been treated like this even economy hotel I’ve been treated nicer. You need to work on. You need to work on your rooms and then add it all off when you go into the bar , they card everybody they don’t look at your license. All you do is take it out and they go OK they don’t look at the dates they don’t look at anything, but they make you take it out every time so they can act like they look at it if you’re gonna , put these programs you should at least do it properly. I am so sorry for this, but you truly deserve it. You don’t deserve one star

This place advertises itself as upscale. However, there is no valet, no pool open, no room service, a terrible check in policy, rude desk clerks, and most of the restaurants and bars are not open. The rooms are fairly nice but the TVs are outdated and the water pressure in the shower isn’t great.Maybe I don’t understand what upscale means but it seems like a middle of the road hotel attached to a casino at best.

My wife and I saw Leanne Rimes at the Rollins Center inside Ballys Dover. Leanne Rimes' performance was excellent! Unfortunately the overall experience was terrible due to the seating. They had us sit on tiny chairs that were so close that they were touching . People were literally sitting on top of each other. Super uncomfortable for all. What were the organizers thinking??? I guess they didn't try sitting in the chairs themselves??? Massive 2 thumbs down! We will never go to another concert there! 90 bucks a ticket for uncomfortableness. Smh

Decided to visit for Christmas Eve this way and was pleasantly pleased. I had not been to this location in almost 10 years and was surprised at how well the property has been kept up.Rooms:Very well maintained and cleaned to perfection. The only negative is the quality of the mattress and bedding.Restaurants:Good customer service and quick even with it being a major holiday. Everyone was so pleasant. New additions of restaurants offer good choicesCasino:As a gambler I was pleased with the casino game selections. They have all of the current hot games as well as some of the older games left for those of us who enjoy them. Overall great stay and will return

We did not know about Bally's Dover Casino Resort until my son was stationed at Dover Air Force Base.Rooms are comfortable, but on the small side. The casino is fantastic! Large area, lots of slot machines and table games. Best of all, it's non-smoking! You can also bet on horse races. I didn't try betting on the horses, but it is available. We have been able to get free room nights based on how much you drop, I mean spend, at the Casino. If you're looking for a non-smoking casino that isn't generally too crowded, try Bally's Dover Casino Resort!

Had to stay here for a business trip and my expectations were low, but I was surprised how nice and clean the rooms were and how nice the hotel was in general. My view wasn't great - a parking lot, but there are lots of rooms with views of the race track which is really nice. Also all of the restaurants were closed due to a gas and electric issue, but it wasn't exclusive to the hotel, it was town-wide and not their fault. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean rooms, My husband list his money near the front desk under $300. He went to look for it and the employees gave it back. Surprised at how honest these people were. Gave them a tip for returning the money. I will definitely refer friends and family to this casino hotel!

Nice casino floor, clean and aesthetic. Games weren't cheap for min bet, but not crazy expensive either. The bar took forever to serve drinks. Parking was abundant and close to the casino. All in all, nice place.

The sportsbook is very organized and has a more positive feeling then before Bally's took over. I don't even notice that the room is smaller now as there are more tables and chairs available. Hopefully, the hours can be extended so that can be placed for the morning games
